Is there any other software, perhaps in the Open Source arena that my PDA can sync with like Outlook does....email, contacts, tasks, etc?

If you mean as in freeware - nope. I know there are solutions that will allow syncing with Lotus Notes, but then you first have to buy Notes, and the sync software.

There are, but they aren't necessarily Outlook-compatible. Some link love below:
FinchSync: http://www.finchsync.com/
Funambol: http://www.funambol.com/

Nice. I've never come across funambol or finchsync before. I'd like to give Finchsync a try, though I don't really need to since I've gone back to Outlook. I hope it continues to be actively developed.
You could also try out Plaxo in conjunction with the Thunderbird plugin (free) and the WebIS MobileSync for Plaxo (not free). I think it's only contacts for now, but it's suppose to support calendar features in the future.
I don't know how long these online services will be around, so I think I'd try out Finchsync first. Doesn't seem to sync e-mail, though. Perhaps you could just set up your accounts on the Pocket Outlook, or your favorite e-mail client.
