To get your music cd's onto the Zune, do you have to also subscribe to the pay Zune service, or can you just send them directly to the Zune? What I'm asking is what is the process?
Thanks,

Hi there, and welcome to Zune Thoughts. When you bought your Zune, you would have installed the Zune desktop software, right? Well that software has a CD ripper in it, so you can rip your CDs without anything else - and you certainly don't need to subscribe to the Zune marketplace or anything like that. :)
Start up the Zune software, and on the right-hand side you'll see a menu item called OPTIONS. Click on that and there will be a drop-down menu with a few different options, one of them being RIP. Click on that and another menu will appear offering you things like FORMAT and BIT RATE. Set the format to MP3 and the BIT RATE to 256 kbps. That will give you the best combination of quality and an open format that can be used everywhere.
Now put in a CD. The software should identify the songs on the CD and you'll have a "Rip" button somewhere. Cilck RIP and you're off! Write back here if you have any other questions about the process.
