I have a Sprint PPC-6700 phone running WM5. I keep getting called by a scam telemarketing place (800 424 5004). Is there any way I can block this number from calling me by changing some settings?

Have you considered filing a complaint with your service provider.

Sprint tells me that there is absolutely nothing they can do, other than giving me a new phone #! That is BS in my opinion, but either way thats what they are telling me. For this reason I am looking for someone here to help me figure out a way to do it using software or settings. Ideally I would like my phone to automatically forward the call back to the 800#! Kind of screw with the bastards a little. Its to the point where they call once an hour or more. I am REALLY getting pissed about this. A quick check on the internet shows that this is apparently a pretty widespread issue too.

My M600 has a call filter application (http://www.etencorp.com/products/Communication/software.php?sid=16) - but it was developed by E-TEN and only made available for E-TEN devices.

But, if you want similar functionality with a universally-available application, you can try Photo Contacts PRO. (http://www.pocketx.net/products/photocontactspro_ppc/)

Wow, that e-ten application looks great! The other one appears to also do the trick, but it costs $20 and includes a bunch of software I dont need. I may try to rename a blank file with an .mp3 extension and then assign that "ring" to the number. Ideally I could send that number directly to VM though. There must be a way to do this using WM5......

Check the laws in your jurisdiction, In B.C., the BCCPA handles complaints re: tele sales.
Print a call log. tell the next guy to call to not call after which...file a complaint. $10,000 or 1 year jail time. granted convictions are rare.

Are you in the US? Try the national Do Not Call Registry. https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx

Did wonders for my landline. Don't get telemarketing calls on my current cell, but had my previous number registered and never got bothered.

Do read the parts about what is and isn't covered, i.e. what sorts of calls and what an established business relationship is. It is pointed out that if you do request the caller to stop "the company must honor your request not to call. If they subsequently call you again, they may be subject to a fine of up to $11,000." Be armed with info.
