I bought me a ThinkOutside Stowaway Bluetooth recently on ebay, and on attempting to install the keybard driver from the cd onto my Acer n311, i've gotten the traditional 'Keyboard Driver Error! The Keyboard driver ("StowawayXT.dll") is not responding. Please reinstall' error. I soft reset, i reinstall, i install from the CAB files directly onto the device instead of InstallShield... no luck. It stubbornly refuses.

I've checked out the forums and found that the Acer n300 series isn't tested for compatibility yet, but that admin said other Acer owners have reported success at installing.

So firstly... anyone gotten it to work? And secondly, what bluetooth keyboard are you using with your Acer if you're not using the Stowaway. I love this one, but am willing to sell it and get another if i have to (carrying around a non-functioning keyboard purely for aesthetic reasons is just outside my personal wierdness threshold :P).

Probably a silly question but have you tried downloading the latest drivers from ThinkOutside?

Don't worry, i'm quite frequently a silly person, so the question is highly warranted. :P
I checked for that, but in the driver download section you choose your device, and they have no driver for the n3** series. Do you think i should choose a driver for another Acer model instead and just hope it works?

I use a Stowaway BT keyboard with my Acer constantly, and I love it.

(Beware: the plastic on these things turns brittle and starts to break down. ThinkOutside sent me a replacement, and now it's doing the same thing. It seems cheeky to ask for yet another keyboard, but it's kinda gross covering it in superglue.)

I can't remember which installer I used (probably the Dell or HP one), but it's driver 4.4. Reconnection isn't always so smooth, but once the two are paired, it's lovely.

I still feel compelled to put the PDA and the stand way over there just 'cause I still find it neat that the two are not physically connected.

Ha, Hamish, i'd be the same! I can imagine some kind of extra-geeky sad moment with the keyboard taped to the inside of my arm or something, and i roll up my sleeve and type something i probably could have done with the stylus anyway, just for the sake of looking cool. Or not. :P

Thanks for the info on the driver, am really glad to hear it does work with the Acer. i'll try that tonight and fingers crossed! :D

Actually, the best way to find out which driver works for you is to go to www.ThinkOutside.com on Pocket Internet Explorer. Their site cleverly determines which driver is right for your device.

Good luck!

P.S. Oh, hey! I just did that myself and there's a 4.5 driver out.
