Hello. I hope you will help me. I have iPAQ H3850. I downloaded PocketMusic (http://www.pocketmind.com/download.htm) and installed it. When i try to start the program, the error message appears - "Cannot find 'PocketMusic' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available." This doesn't happen only with PocketMusic, but with other programs too. I searched in google, but didn't find usable answers. :(

Also if you are using a non-standard installation method like CabInstl and the pathway to the file is changed to one that is not coded into the software then you would also see this error. The component might have been installed in a location the software doesn't know about.

Have you tried a soft reset? If these apps are on your Storage card, have you verified that it exists in File Explorer (if not, remove/reinsert it) or does it say something like "Storage Card2" instead of "Storage Card?"

Are you running some kind of RAM utility? No.
I use standart installation method, but also tried cabinstl.
Have you tried a soft reset?Yes. The same.
Usually I install apps on standart location - Program Files.
It says "Storage Card"
P.S. I hope I understand you and conversely, because i am not very good at english.

what happens if you manually tap on an EXE file from File Explorer rather than the shortcut on your menu?

The same error. :(
Then I would say you have something seriously wrong with your device.
Can you launch normal apps, like Calendar or Tasks? If so, try uninstalling all of your other apps, soft resetting and reinstalling one at a time.
If Calendar doesn't launch, then I'd hard reset. Hopefully it isn't a bad ROM chip, just a corrupt registry that a hard reset will fix.

Yes, I can launch Calendar and Tasks. I allready tried installing them again on empty device. Please, can you tell me more about hard reset? What it does to the device? It deletes all information?

A hard reset either returns your device to out of the box condition, or to a fresh installed device at the time of your last ROM upgrade if you have done that.
What happened when you installed the apps on an empty device? Did that work? If not, are these apps designed for Windows Mobile 5? Most apps that work on 2003/2003SE should work, but it is possible they are very old and simply won't launch. Did you answer "YES" that you trusted the apps the first time they tried to launch?

Maybe we can talk somewhere in real time? Like MSN, Skype, IRC... or something like that?

Sorry. I can't get into one on one support like that. I just pop in here occasionally, often on my Pocket PC, and try to help out.
Plus, if you give a clear picture of what you are doing, not doing, others can see the issue and may be able to jump in. We have a LOT of members that know more about mobile devices than I do.

Ok, I understand.
What happened when you installed the apps on an empty device? Did that work? The same error message.
If I want to start them on my device, should they be designed for Windows Mobile 5? I thougth, that apps only must be compatible with Pocket PC 2002, to run on my device.
Did you answer "YES" that you trusted the apps the first time they tried to launch? It didn't asked any questions.
Maybe hard reset could help...?

Ok, you are right, I missed the device you had, an iPAQ 3800. that could be 2002 or 2003 - there was an upgrade for it at one time.
In either case, WM5 means nothing for you. It needs to be 2002 or 2003. That said, if you did the same thing on a clean device with the same errors, then I can only think of 2 things wrong. 1) the apps really aren't designed for your device or 2) Something is wrong with ActiveSync on your PC and when you run the installer on the desktop, then it transfers it to the device through ActiveSync's installer, something is getting corrupted.

On back of my device there is a label "Windows Pocket pc 2002". What kind of upgrade you are talking about? 2002 -> 2003?
I found here (http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/HandheldiPAQ/us/locate/71_2594.html) some updates. Newest - "iPAQ Pocket PC 2002 End User Update (EUU - Service Pack)" 17 Dec 03. Shouldn't there be a newer updates?
Those apps are for ppc 2002 and 2003, so they have to work... AcitveSync seems to work fine.
About hard reset - could it help me or I have to forget about it?

There was an upgrade from 2002 to 2003 you could buy. It was about $30. HP discontinued it but you might find it on ebay.
As for the hard reset, it cannot hurt. The only thing you will lose is time creating a new partnership and putting apps on the device.
And just for clarification, you are downloading apps from the internet and running them on your PC, right? That is then copying them to the device. You aren't plopping those .exe files on your device are you?

I open downloaded app on my PC and if it is *.exe, it first installs something on my desktop, then opens ActiveSync and installs app on device. If it is *.cab then i upload to to the device and install from there.
EDIT:
I did a hard reset, but it didn't solve the problem.
Is this (http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Pocket-PC-2003-upgrade-iPAQ-3850-3855-3830-3835_W0QQitemZ8817513025QQcategoryZ64363QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) the upgrade you are talking about?
