T-Mobile MDA: entering #'s and symbols on slideout keyboard

Is there a way to set it so that I don't have to press the button w/ the blue circle every time I want to type a number? Entering a phone number requires me to press that button 12 times.

Okay, I am surprised I got no responses for this. But after playing around with mine I found the answer. Press the blue-circle button twice to lock it.

Obviously same for Caps, too. Double press to release and a single press for obne character only.

Oh, there'sa hack for the HTC Wizard to display the state of the caps lock/control buttons. Sorry - no more info, but a search ought to get it.
