My N311 can stay on only 3h30 with wifi on and the very first level of backlight. It is really not enough for me . I have heard the existence of a high capacity battery. But do not succeeded to find one in stock somewhere. Does one of you know where to find one?

yup, i contacted acer about this and got a phone number for their spares department in the UK. my computer crashed before the weekend and all my emails are stuck on there at the mo, so i won't be able to give you the details til it's fixed. if you can't wait, or you need info for ordering in another country, i suggest you chuck Acer support an email... they're very helpful :)

i'll reply here with the phone number once my PC is up and running again, for your reference and for anyone else that wants to order a battery.

I hare contacted by mail Acer in France. They gave me the email of 2 distributors of spare parts. I contacted them but without any success. I am ready to buy it in UK, so I am waiting your info.

If/when someone does get this thing, some photos of it in the device would be great. Unless of course there is no size difference or buldging backplate... but I doubt it.

I'm hoping to get my hard-drive temporarily transferred to my laptop tonight, so i'll be able to give you the number then. And if that doesn't work, or they don't have the high-capacity (i can't remember if i asked for that or just a spare) then i know a shop in Holland that sells it and i can buy from them through a friend. :)

Right, i suspect this number isn't going to be so useful as it appears i just asked for a place to buy a spare battery, not a high capacity. They're open workdays so i can't phone and check today: 0870 8531005 but i will phone Monday if i get a moment.

As a quick aside, there's these guys who you could enquire with: http://www.cybex.cz/Produkt.aspx?Shortcut=ACE-614173&Type=K&CategoryId=0

These guys list it also: http://www.apexis.cz/iobchod/cze/produkty/acer/?produktID=49034&kategorieID=0UPB7M110&hlkat=0UP#pro49034 and have a slightly more professional looking website.

and these guys have a photo: http://www.centralpoint.nl/frame.php?url=/p/Acer/CC.H0203.003/Battery_High_Capacity.html and the product listed. Whether the photo is correct or not, who knows.

oop, and these guys for 58 euros: http://www.fatech.com/logistica/brands/find-brand.shtml?value=Acer

I'll be contacting all these people at some point, but i thought i'd put them here so if others are in more of a hurry they could have a go too. That second-to-last shop is in the Netherlands, and if we fail to find a battery anywhere else and they won't deliver outside of their country, i can get a couple from them. But i'll be trying all these places first, and more if i find them.

If anyone contacts any of these places, please do let us know what they say.

Finally. I have found photos of the high capacity battery in a Chinese site. It is thickness is twice the standard one. So I will not bvy a high capacity but a standard one.
Thanks for you help

ahhh.. too thick for my tastes. Battery life is rarely an issue for me though as I cradle and home and charge/sync at work. So far only once have I run out the battery when I could have used just one more half-hour. I think I'll pass on this accessory.

Ah. I don't mind the chunkiness at all, but it wouldn't fit in the case i have for the Acer and that'd probably be a pain. Think i'll just buy a regular spare battery (or two!) and make do with that for those long journeys when i want to watch films.

I have 2 batteries. The main issue is that switch of battery does a soft reset. And I was obliged once to do a very hard reset (reinstall the rom). Bad design: why they have not included a backup battery ?
