We'll cover their entire rundown of global, Smartphone, and Phone Edition devices you've never heard of before...We can confirm that Sprint will pick up two devices previously exclusive to Verizon, the Treo 700w and Samsung i830. The Treo 700w will be released immediately upon the end of Verizon's exclusivity agreement at the end of June. The Samsung i830 is expected internally at Sprint to ship before that...Sprint will also target exclusive devices to begin to attract customers from other carriers. We can confirm Sprint intends is looking into two competitors to the Q being developed by Samsung and Pantech...The most likely candidate reported from sources inside the wireless carrier is a CDMA version of the Samsung i770, a flip-phone that runs Windows Mobile Phone Edition, though provides a flip-phone look and QWERTY keyboard similar to the BlackBerry 7100 series."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/parekh-20060517-Sprinti770.jpg" /><br /><br />This article is self-proclaimed to be full of unsubstantiated rumors, so take it for what you will. ;) However, the prospects are tempting. Verizon's occupied the more visible position with Windows Mobile devices as of late, so it's exciting to see the prospect that new CDMA WM devices, including the i770 -- which <a href="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=48691">Darius reported on earlier this week</a> -- might make it to Sprint.

Dude, sprint could come out with only 2 WM phones and have the "most agressive WM lineup ever" When it comes to WM that company is a joke. They are too scared that the WM would actually use some of that EV-DO bandwidth that they nickel and dime people for. The other thing they need to do is quit sucking on Samstung and Sayno for phones, who are idiots when it comes to WM devices. And saying that Verizon is better on WM devices is like winning the special olympics. There is a reason HP and other WM device makers dont do CDMA devices, because the CDMA companies are stupid. Its pretty sad when you have to PAY a company (Palm) to make the 700w exclusive to your network. That is called desperation my friends.

I think Sprint has had at least 1 WM device in their lineup for a number of years... How many WM devices does T-Mobile currently have? 2? (MDA and SDA) How about Cingular? 2 from what I can tell. Sprint has the 6700 and 6600. I don't see this as being any better or worse than the other US carriers.

When it comes to WM that company is a joke. They are too scared that the WM would actually use some of that EV-DO bandwidth that they nickel and dime people for.

Huh? Sprint has the cheapest ($15/month) unlimited EVDO plan in town.

What Samsung and Sanyo WM devices is Sprint selling? Are you sure you're not confusing Sprint with Verizon?

No, that's called being smart and having deep pockets. I'm pretty sure Palm would give exclusivity to the highest bidder; apparently Cingular couldn't ante up?? (I don't even mention T-Mobile because they stopped carrying Treos years ago)

You sound like a disgruntled GSM user who is annoyed that you're last in line for new Treos. I don't blame you at all, but try to keep the CDMA bashing down a bit.

I can name the WM devices sprint has offered on one hand.

Toshiba 2032
Samstung i600
PPC-6600. (sprint will say the 6601 is another phone, but lets cut the crap)
PPC-6700

Oh WOW, FOUR PHONES!

No lets look at what Cingular/ATT Wireless has offered in the same time span:

Audiovox PPC4100
Audiovox 5600
ipaq 6510
2125
8125
MPx200
MPx220
SX56
SX66

And this is not even counting all of the WM phones that you can run on cingular/att network unlocked...because unlike CDMA, GSM doesnt have nazi policies of keeping phones off its network.

A CDMA company having a windows mobile "attack plan" is the epitomy of oxymoron.

no, I have no envy for a treo phone. I have an 8125...why would I want a SMALLER screen? I dont even have pity on the idiot companies who have to PAY them to get the treo 700w.

To be honest, I really don't care that much about old models - most of them stink. I was really basing my comments on what is currently available. By doing a search on phonescoop, it lists 5 WM phones for Sprint and 7 for Cingular. (it doesn't count the similar mpx's or Siemens) (also, you forget the Hitachi brick for Sprint)

7 vs. 5 is a difference, but it's certainly not anything to get excited about. If Sprint were to come out with 2 more WM devices this year, then that would double their current lineup. Whether or not you call that an "attack plan" I don't know, but it is agressive.

you didn't include ATT wireless phones, which are now part of the cingular network (and soon to be renamed ATT wireless again)

in the same token you could include nextel WM phones but that would only bring Sprint up to 6....and the Nextel WM phone is complete and utter trash.

If you want to dwell on what is currently available that only serves to make sprint look worse. One WM phone? The PPC-6700 form factor is so bad....it should have never had that stupid nub.
