But what is perfect for one person may be the ultimate deal-breaker for another. Some people want a case that protects every corner and surface, while others want the thinnest possible design - one that adds very little additional bulk or weight. Others are more concerned with getting the maximum screen protection without losing the ability to use the Phone Edition's keyboard while it is in the case. Still others want the simplest case possible, something that basically carries the phone on their belt, protecting it from accidental bumps and drops when it is not being used. ... Today, I am going to take a look at the Fortte HTC Apache/PPC-6700 Book Model PDA Case. I'll say up front that if you are looking for a solution that will cover every corner completely, one that will offer maximum corner protection during drops, this one probably won't be it. But if you are looking for a case that offers maximum screen protection and the ability to use the sliding keyboard without removing the PDA from the case, read on..."</i><br /><br /><img src=http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/westfall-051206-fortte-6700-book-style-case10.jpg><br /><br />For better or for worse, some of us have a serious obsession with cases for our Pocket PCs, and it seems that the HTC Apache (and the HTC Wizard) have had quite a few options out there with some rather interesting ways to handle the device's main case headache - the built-in keyboard. If you've been looking for a new Apache case, check out Judie's review of the Fortte, and let us know what you think!

This looks like something i'd be interested in as i have already dropped my 6700 but i wanted to point out something that I have heard from verizon themself. I have had alot of trouble with my phone and was told that there was a lady that had alot of problems and only had problems when she was using the device but others could use it with no problems. Come to find out it was her magnetic bracelet that she always wore. I noticed that the other cases on that site have magnetic closures and was wondering if it might affect the device....

I realize a lot of people will disagree with me, but it would be really cool if HTC made a version of the Wizard WITHOUT the keyboard. The device would be slimmer and less boxy, and the case would be simpler. Just a thought…

They do -- it's called the HTC Prophet. :) Here's one review (http://www.mobile-review.com/pda/review/htc-prophet-en.shtml) of it.

In a couple of words: no effect. The magnets that are used in the closures are not close to powerful enough to have any effect. I have used a Sena case for my Toshiba e805 for years with magnetic closues and no side effects, as well as my current Cingular provided case for my 8125 (HTC Wizard). Don't worry about magnetic closures.....get a case as soon as you can.

What would be the point? If the Wizard was made WITHOUT the keyboard, than it would totally be different device. That's like saying - Oh Gee I wish the HTC Universal didn't have the swival screen and the keyboard.

Anyway I personally think the case in this review stinks. It leaves too much of the sides open and I wouldn't think it protected the device if it dropped. A better case for this model is found here:

I should have a small review of this case on my blog in the next few days.
