What is the preferred method of installing software to the HP6515 since there does not seem to be a great deal of memory left in the main memory? Are there any programs this you should NOT install to SD Card? Thanks.

The rule of thumb is if a software is not loaded at start up (after a soft reset), OR a today plugin, it's safe to install to a storage card.
