I am thinking of purchasing a Dell X51v as a backup to my HX 4700, and if I do, I will sent it to PocketPCTechs for a memory upgrade to 128 MB RAM.

The question I have is what positive effect that will actually have on my new Dell X51v with the persistent storage of WM 5? I had the additional RAM installed on my HX4700 running WM2003SE and found a big difference in performance.

Will I experience the same on the Dell with WM5's persistent Storage?

Thanks for your help.

In a word - it's in very few cases that you'll be able to make use of the additional memory.

Quake 3 (doesn't run without 128M RAM)
Playing 32M cartridges in the new PocketGBA version (doesn't run without 128M RAM)
Using the soon-to-be-released version of Conduits Pocket Artist for editing *huge* images.

(I don't link my articles discussing these problems with 64M RAM to save time - if interested, let me know and I look up the URL's)

In general, you won't have problems because of the 64M RAM. That is, I wouldn't upgrade at the current PPCTechs prices and because of the loss of the official Dell warranty.
