Honestly I don't recall many people here using Good - so if you're a user, tell us - is this something you've been lusting over?

My company uses goodlink. And yes, we have been lusting for this update. We had several VP's get the Treo 700w when it came out, and it didn't go over smooth to tell them it wasn't compatible with goodlink yet. The Treo 600 and 650 are the most popular goodlink devices used but many of our users wanted to switch to PocketPC and they felt the 700w was the right device make the transition.

Its a pity that Good still does not support the VGA resolution. HTC Universal would make a great device for this technology but alas we must wait some more...

EnsignRam...Make sure you update the Palm with the new firmware BEFORE you install 4.8. Hopefully you are using OTA because with EVDO it takes practically no time at all.

Couple of things...Good has not been able to get the quick dial today screen to look into good contacts. After you install 4.8, it will only do quick dial with numbers. Somehow it breaks it's link with outlook contacts so you can't even put people in manually. Also, after you install Goodlink, your brightness and power settings go down to 10sec, so make sure that you go in and fix it.

Good has not done a very good job with how much memory this thing uses. I would recommend that you download and install "InClose". This is a free task manager program that you can map to the OK button. It works really well and has kept my free memory at about 8 MB. When you get into the settings, there is a tab that lets you check what kind of options are available for portriat and landscape. For some reason, it thinks in reverse on the 700W. So landscape settings are for portriat, and portriat serrtings are for landscape. Must be the square screen causing the problem.

Here is the link for InClose: http://insoftwarehouse.com/products/inclose/index.php?l=en

K_Kirk...I feel your pain. I am posting my JASJAR on ebay because of that problem. I understand that Good is changing its model and teaming up with Cell companies directly since they are starting to see more revenue from that angle instead of selling direct. I would bet that you will see universal support now that they are really pushing into Europe and Asia.

I've used Goodlink on the 650 and was not very impressed - yes it did push emails reliabily but is was a memory hog and used its own proprietary data formats so 3rd party apps can't use them.

I view it as a solution of last resort.
