Hi, Newbie to this forum. So please Bare with me.

I have a problem with me PDA not being able to send or receive emails after syncing with me laptop.
My laptop has Outlook 2003
My PDA is a Dell Axim x30

This is what I did
The issue has been bugging me a bit so I hard reset my PDA so it had nothing on it.
I then deleted the old partnership form my ActiveSync 4.1 and then attached the USB data cable. Created another partnership and sync back all my bits and pieces using the default options.
The problem is that I can view all my emails that I have on my laptop on my PDA but it wont let me send or receive emails unless I use the data cable.
The PDA connects to my wireless network fine.

I can ONLY send and receive emails if i set up a new email account on my PDA. But that means two of the same email accounts.

I’m sure other people have had this problem and I’m overlooking a simple thing.
But please post back coz this is doing my nut lol.

Hi.

I have the exact same problem. It seems that you can not attach a e-mail address to the default account "Outlook E-mail”. I am beginning to suspect that this is a feature and not a bug. But I would be nicee if somebody knows how to fix this bug, or disable the feature

I don't quite follow exactly what's going on here, but I'll try to explain how things work. Your Pocket PC has an ActiveSync Inbox that syncs with your desktop/laptop PC. You can no long sync wirelessly over 802.11b with ActiveSync 4.1 - they removed that feature. So that means you can't send email via AciveSync when you're connected via WiFi. If you want to send email from your Pocket PC over WiFi, you need to create an email account matching your Outlook settings. Hope that helps!

Hi thanks for the reply. i read on another forum that after active sync 3.8 they stopped allowing wireless sync due to security issues. - i still have 3.8 for this reason. The whole point for my ppc is to use the wireless sync.

I just don't see the point in have outlook email on a ppc if it can't be used efficiently. I'm i correct in thinking that i need a 2nd email account that will allow me to send and receive email while the 1st one sync's email but doesnt send or receive mail.

Hi,

Yes thats my conclusion. You have to make a send/recieve account and switch between accounts. But the biggest problem is that you can't (or at least I can't) copy e-mail between your diffrent accounts. So after you sync. with the PC, there is no easy way to reply to an old message, you can only repyl to the messages you have downloded on your "other" send/recieve account.

By the way, i am not using wireless to sync. so this seems to be a general problem in the Active <-> Outlook relationship.

have a nice weekend

It seems that it is the way it' s works. I found this post at support.microsoft.com/newsgroups, that basicly say's that the default messenger account "Outlook E-mail" only act's as a container, and that you can not send or recieve from it with a networkconnection only when you are connected via ActiveSync.

(if you want to see it for yourself try searching for <outlook email account> in /English/Mobil and Embedded/Hanhheld and Pocket PC/General Discussion and read the Post "Email Help")

Hope this Helps.
