O2 Xda Atom Available in the Middle East

Previously exclusive to the Asia Pacific region, the Xda Atom is now available for purchase in the Middle East, and it'll be the first of many O2-branded mobile devices to make its way over there. Perhaps we'll soon see the Atom in Europe as well? Time will tell.

I wonder if this was influenced by the impending introduction of the Quanta-OEM'ed HP "Atom" device (assuming HP already has some Middle East market penetration).

HP definitely has a market presence in the Middle East, though the rw6800 series (the one you're referring to) is only available in the Asia Pacific. So I doubt O2's expansion to the Middle East is related to it.

I feel sorry for them already.

This is an appalling device. Even after the ROM upgrade it is very slow and very flaky. The worst PPC I have ever owned - and I have lost count of how many I have ownded since 1998.

A colleague has a K-JAM. Now this, is a nice device. Way faster, no lock ups, a usable keyboard. I wish I could swap but the Atom is getting rather a bad reputation in Australia now.
