That means that if you changed card "A" on your Pocket PC, and card "B" on your desktop PC, when you sync you won't have to chose between which wallet is the master file, it will sync the respective cards. Nice!

Awesome. Sounds like some great updates. :)

The download page is here (http://www.webis.net/products_info.php?p_id=wallet&dir=wm&tab_id=download) if you don't want to browse through the WebIS site to find it.

This is a possibly stupid question, but how do I get card level syncronization to occur? I upgraded to 2006 Rev2, and I don't see any sort of screnn like in the screen shot provided indicating record level sync. I've looked at the options for both Flex Wallet and Activesync with no luck.

I haven't experimented with this, but I believe card level syncronization just means that if you edit cards on both your mobile device and PC, then perform a sync, both changes will occur. This was different than prior versions, where they just copied the entire .fw2 file over to the other device, from whichever device had modified it most recently.

Thanks for your reply.

I understand what card level syncronization means, I just didn't know how to start using it.....it appeared to me that it was still syncronizing at the FILE level AFTER I had upgraded to Rev2.

I have since answered my own question, and the answer may help others:

After you have installed or upgraded, go to Start > All Programs > WebIS FlexWallet > Wallet Sync Wizzard, and answer its questions. YOU CAN *NOT* DO CARD LEVEL SYNC IF THE WALLET FILE IS IN YOUR "PPC MY DOCUMENTS" FOLDER FOR FILE LEVEL SYNC. You must move it anywhere else (desktop's My Documents folder is recomended) and THEN run through the Wallet Sync Wizzard......works great now!

Ah, good to know. Yeah, I saw that message too, but haven't gotten around to moving my wallet file yet. Guess I just didn't put 2 and 2 together with your question. Glad you figured it out. :)

Anyone have a problem with the upgrade? I did. The desktop install went fine enough, but the installer complained when trying to install on my PPC. I couldn't get past the error message so my PPC wasn't upgraded. I tried a few variations over the last 40 minutes -- uninstalling everything, rebooting, installing a fresh copy of Rev 2 -- but I still get an error with the PPC install. I'm returning to Rev 1 now.... :-/

Yeah, I had problems on all 3 devices... PC, Pocket PC, and Smartphone. (I'm still a fan of FlexWallet though. ;)) With my Pocket PC, I rebooted into Safe Mode (with the help of Spb Pocket Plus) and uninstalled FlexWallet on my Pocket PC. I restarted my Smartphone and uninstalled it first. And on my PC, the Desktop version got uninstalled somehow, and then wouldn't reinstall until I uninstalled it.

On the PPC the installs usually work pretty flawlessly. We've run it publicly quite a bit over the last 3 months - but it would be helpful to know

#1 where is it installed
#2 are you synching when its installed
#3 what device/OS you have?

THis is general installer troubleshooting basically and nothing specific to FlexWallet. The other thing to try is uninstall on the PPC, then manually delete the installed folder (everything is in there). Then soft reset and reinstall. Sometimes a file might get used or setup in a way that keeps it from being overwritten.

One thing to keep in mind is that while the installer on the PPC and SmartPhone is identical to how all installers work under Windows Mobile and also is nearly identical to the ones used for FlexMail, Pocket Informant, Mobile Sync, etc... - the desktop installer is radically different from Rev 1. Rev 1 used NSIS for the install which did not properly install the MFC8 libraries on some people's machines while Rev 2 uses InstallShield which does properly install. We setup IS to remove the Rev 1 install before installing Rev 2, but sometimes depending on the desktop config it may not work. We've also seen some weird ActiveSync/InstallShield issues with ActiveSync 3.8 and below during install that we don't see with NSIS.

Finally, we just found out that if you have Norton Antivirus enabled - InstallShield will crash at the end. So do make sure you turn off all antivirus software before doing the install.

#1 Built-in storage
#2 Yes, I'm using ActiveSync 3.7.1
#3 X50v with WM2003 / XP Pro SP-2 on the desktop

I do use Norton Internet Security, and I usually only turn it off if/when an installer program suggests it. FlexWallet's installer didn't say anything about it.

Given the lost time tonight, I doubt I'll upgrade to Rev 2. I only update cards on my PPC, and I haven't encountered any UI bugs to motivate me to make another attempt at it. It's been a disappointing evening for me....

In case you're interested Alex, I was one of the users affected by that issue, and I can confirm you have completely solved that issue (THANKS!!). Now I just have BillRate (same original compay....TwoPeaks) having the issue, and it doesn't appear that BillRate is going to be updated ever :(

Regardless, thanks for addressing that issue!

famousdavis, sorry to hear that. I can honestly say its not really anything we can do better. 90% of the installer tech for FW is Microsoft's and its frankly not real predictable.

Your best bet may be to simply grab the CAB files and install them manually.

I had the same problems of not being able to install the PPC version (error message related to a missing file). I gave up and just copied the cab file to the PPC (iPAQ hx2415) and it works.

I still have the problem of FW2006 deleting the wallet file in the \My Documents folder on the desktop (and it doesn't come back even after a soft reset and multiple ActiveSyncs (3.7.1), but I think it's because I was getting frustrated and clicked the FW sync tool on the desktop. I just opened up the Mobile Device in the desktop explorer and copied it back to the PPC and all seems fine. Now that I see how it works (FW sync wizard and card level sync ) from the previous posts, I'll try that (move from \My Documents and let FW do the sync instead).

Where are the 75 new icons? I found the same ones that were introduced in FW2005. They are nice, but I liked some of the FW 1.7 icons, as they fit my card descriptions a little better. I would like to mix and match them as I see fit.

Finally, the card dating (create/mod/sunc) feature really appeals to me, since I modified all the default templates from FW2005/2006 rev1 to include a change date so I could keep track myself. Didn't see that field as a viewable item in FW2006 rev 2.

My install went fine. Or as fine as an upgrade can go on a WM5 device.
Knowing that it is impossible to install an app on your ppc with the app already installed I removed it first. Althought the uninstaller didn't work as usual so I rebooted and then ran it again with no problems. On mu desktop I uninstalled flexwallet and that FWREV thing that got installed with the last version. What was that by the way?

Anyway, after completely removing all versions I installed on my desktop and ppc without any problems what so ever.

Can somebody explain the difference between FlexWallet 2006 and VizKeeper 3?

Which one is better?

Thanks,

The new installer with Rev 2 actually tries to remove the install on the PPC first before it installs to alleviate the WM5 install bother. You still get the error messages from WM5 but it works 9 out of 10 times.

FWREV thing was how we tried to get around using InstallShield last time. It installed the libs using the Microsoft's MSI 3.0.

The fields aren't viewable in Rev 2, though they are there. They are used primarily for the sync. I hadn't thought about making them viewable - but that's a good idea. As for the icons - they are not custom icons, but built into the app so if you add an icon it will show about 90 new icons at the bottom of the first tab including WebIS icons, PayPal, RSA, wire transfer, wireless control, and about 75 other nice icons.

Furthermore in the install folder is a .fwt file which contains about 5 or so new templates that you can import that I think are pretty useful.

Ahh good to know. I imported and synced them over to my ppc. I love the new sync feature. Especially that it tells me exactly what it is doing. :)

Plus i don't sync my ppc's My Documents folder so i was just copying the data file over manually. Which was fine. I only use flexwallet from my ppc, i only have the desktop version just incase something where to happen to my precious ppc. ;)

The what's new (http://www.webis.net/whatsnew.php?type=FW2006&version=417&Product_Version=FlexWallet%202006%20Rev%202) list has a lot of items on it, the most important of which (in my opinion) is card-level synching.

This is the killer feature for an app like this, IMO. I wish Ilium would do a version of ListPro that did this.

Just FYI - I put up a new test of the installers (same FW builds) which offer the following improvements:

1) Product codes differ for each type of installer so one can installer one over the other
2) The installer now determines if you're installing on a PPC or SP and uses a specific ini file for each. If it cannot determine, then it uses the old ini file which has both like now.
3) Has a readme so to speak which gives information on installation.

As the software is the same and only some UI and CAB installs are changed, I would appreciate a quick test of these:

I tried to install Rev 2 to my hx2755 both thru ActiveStynk (3.8) from my PC (Win XP Pro SP2) and from the .CAB file, and got an error message every time ('couldn't install, run again'). :(

That should be fixed now. We had a bad CAB file somehow included for the PPC version in the InstallShield project.
