While this model is pretty old now it is still very capable with its 400 Mhz processor and so we thought that we could review it from the point of view of an affordable SIP phone (Ekiga, Gizmo, Stanaphone, FreeWorldDialup, Skype). Read more for our findings and a quick rundown of its amazing battery life times!"</i><br /><br /><img src=http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/ipaq6.png><br /><br />If you've been wanting to get into VOIP in a bit way (i.e. a dedicated unit for it), an inexpensive way to get a lot of bang for your buck would be an older iPAQ such as the 2210 & a Wifi CF card. This review at OSNews seems to do a good treatment of the pros & cons of this setup!

Too bad, that's an excellent price. I paid twice that for my 2215 on 6/27/2003 (without the bigger battery or the SD card), and it still works like a charm.

I am extremely disappointed with VOIP right now. I had my HP2210 with a Linksys WiFi 802.11G card(before it was stolen) last year and all my Skypec alls were constantly dropping :( I even uninstalled a lot of apps to free up RAM space but no cigar. I tried various WiFi hotspots, including home.
I just bought an iMAte JAM a month ago(which feels a lot slower than my 2210  ) and I tried Skype again via SDIO. I had worse performance than my 2210. There was like a 2 second delay on everything which times out the connection, compared to the 1 sec delay using Skype on HP2210.
I have yet to try Jphone
Oh well, Back to a PC with Vitaero BT headset adaptor for Skype :| .
Maybe someday (1gHZ?) PDA processors can do VIOP right...
