TechFaithWireless (TFW): Move Over, HTC?

Each Phone Edition design is different, though there are some standout features common to all - namely, a possible 4.0-megapixel CCD, a 2.4" or 2.8" QVGA (240 x 320) TFT-LCD, tri- or quad-band GSM/GPRS support (with possible EDGE and W-CDMA support), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, IrDA, GPS, 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, and Windows Mobile 5.0. The processor choice isn't crash hot (TI OMAP 200MHZ or Intel Bulverde 312MHz), and I'm not sure how far TFW intends to go with a 1200mAh battery (considering the 1001 optional components they have planned). I'll guess we'll find out soon enough.

To the end of the street, and not much further, with 512mb of RAM. That much RAM sounds really cool till you do the math for battery life. You have to give them credit for not announcing another 2.8" screen 312mhz, 64mb RAM, 128mb ROM device like the rest of the worrld is doing though. ;)

512 RAM/ROM sounds unrealistic right now. As does the 4.0mp camera.

It's a trick! The initial spec sheet says it's 512Mb RAM and ROM, not MB. They sure caught alot of attention with this small little trick. Many, including me, fell for it. PDAgold had a preview of one of the Smartphones and it features 64MB RAM and ROM, which matches with the 512Mb stated on TFW's website.

The olny ones gettign tricked is the designer that is still developing these, only to see some guy steal his thinder with a little Photoshoping.

These are great designs that companies like Moto, Nokia, HP, and HTC should have had on the market already.

I think Moto is the only one with a clue as to the formula, if a little bit of something sells allot, then more would sell some...and that is allot lower risk than a whole new design effort. SLVR, Q, Peble are a start.

How about a Smart-Razor, it's been talked about, and the Q is barking up that tree but Moto needs some significant follow through.

HP should stop trying to copy Blackberry and make the logical evolution of their best product, like a PPC-PE 4700.
