Dell Axim x51 WM2005 downgrade to x50 2003SE ROM?

Can anyone please advise whether they or someone they know has ACTUALLY attempted to install a x50 WM2003SE ROM on an x51? What were the results? I understand results could be different with the x51v compared to the other two models due to the change in the x51v's ROM storage.

While the two are markedly similar, an X50v ROM still differs from an X51v ROM, so I don't think you can even attempt to use an X50v ROM to 'downgrade' the X51v to Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition - at least, not from a hack-free and legal perspective.

I'm more interested if anyone has gotten an X51 rom update (A0x) to work on an X50....kind of afraid to just try it!

You'd have issues "just trying it", anyway. Dell's ROM updates are designed to detect the device type and ROM prior to initiating an update. It's what Dell does to ensure that cross-device ROM updates do not occur, which would otherwise lead to serious problems.
