<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.sandisk.com/Corporate/PressRoom/' target='_blank'>http://www.sandisk.com/Corporate/PressRoom/</a><br /><br /></div><i>"MEXICO CITY, MEXICO, APRIL 1, 2006 – SanDisk® Corporation today introduced a new 4-gigabyte and 8-gigabyte (GB) capacity, the highest available in the market right now, for its standard SD™ and miniSD™ cards. "As consumers demand more from their PDAs and digital cameras, they will need more storage capacity," said Susan Park, retail product marketing manager for SanDisk's standard memory card line. "SanDisk's new 4-gigabyte and 8-gigabyte memory cards will offer consumers the power to store!""</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20060401-SanDiskCards1.jpg" /><br /><br />SanDisk's new 4GB and 8GB SD and miniSD cards aren't cheap. Set for a mid-April release, these babies will maul your life savings at $200 to $500 a pop (depending on size and type). I was lucky enough to receive an 8GB SD prototype for review and it's working fine with my E-TEN M600 Pocket PC Phone Edition. User-accessible memory falls just short of 8GB, but regardless, there's still plenty of bytes to enjoy. <!><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20060401-SanDiskCards2.jpg" /><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/web/2003/wey-20060401-SanDiskCards3.jpg" /><br /><br />So, Apple can't even produce an 8GB iPod nano at the moment. You reckon they should just release an iPod SD to please the masses? ;)

This April Fool joke sounds awfully familiar (http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&amp;t=news&amp;id=3094). I even had a price of about $500 and mentioned the iPod, too, although your Photoshopping is better.

Yeah... well.... after the 4 months it took them to replace my faulty 2GB card, caveat emptor. I'll be waiting until the competition catches up

I've seen folks embittered because of data lost to Sandisk SD cards. Hasn't happened to me. Still, 8GB in one very expensive postage stamp? For myself I've drawn a line: $100 for a storage device, no more. I'll buy as much storage as possible for $100, Canadian.

Unfortunately, this does not guarantee against disappointment. In February I paid $97 for a Sandisk Ultra II, 2GB SD, ordering from a long-time eBay seller with a great history. The card never arrived. Either he died or he ripped me off, I cannot tell. Fortunately Paypal seems likely to cover most of the cash, eventually. Gives me time to reflect on my next memory purchase... and on the nature of eBay.

Not funny! But after a couple of April Fool's on this sight, I would expect nothing less.

Thanks. :) You should check out the three items I posted today at pocketnow (http://www.pocketnow.com). They're not quite as outrageous, but they have clues in them indicating their true nature.

See if you can find the clues in each story.

I'm sure 4 GB miniSD will be the next step. 4 GB SD cards are already out, of course, so 8 GB will be the next step there.

That's one reason this joke wasn't that funny -- it was too close to reality. While SanDisk hasn't announced a 4 GB SD card yet, some companies have been shipping them for a while now. You can even get them for less than the $200 (http://www.pricegrabber.com/p__Transcend_4GB_Secure_Digital_Card,__12024819/sort_type=price) mentioned.

That was the point. Less of the laughs, and more of the fooling. :)

On a side note, I never noticed that post you made at pocketnow.com last year. What a coincedence. 8O
