Is there a way to export calendar data from the PocketPC as a csv (or any other) file?
I have looked but not found a way to do so...
Thanks in advance!

No - you'd need to sync it with Outlook on the PC, then export it from there.

The problem is that I cannot sync my calendar data using ActiveSync.
I have a Cingular 8125, and am using ActiveSync 4.1. All other items (notes, contacts, etc) sync just fine. However, ActiveSync ALWAYS crashes when I attempt to sync the calendar data. This happens on both my home and work computers. I figured that the data on the 8125 had become corrupted somehow. I thought that exporting to a csv file (directly from the 8125), then importing the csv into Outlook would work around the problem. Will Pocket dbExplorer, from http://www.phatware.com/hpcdbex.html allow me to export the calendar info?

BTW, thanks for your speedy reply!

Yes, it does sound like your Pocket PC is corrupt if it crashes Activesync on both your work and home computers - I've never heard of that happening before. Pocket dvExplorer doesn't seem to have a CSV export function - it was designed to export databases to move from one Pocket PC to another I believe. Your only recourse would seem to be hard resetting your Pocket PC and starting over the scratch. I can't hurt to run scanpst.exe on both your work and home computers to make sure the PST file isn't itself corrupted in some way.

Ouch!

Tracking down corruption manually can be tedious, depending on how many entries you have.

How many calendar entries have you entered into your 8125 since your last successful sync? If it is only a few, try deleting them to see if it is one of those that is causing the problem.

You could get a backup utility to back up the Calendar database and go through some trial and error by removing calendar entries one at a time and syncing to see if you can track down the problem entry.

looks like others are having this same problem, see http://hardware.mcse.ms/message264882.html for details. unfortunately, looks like no solution (other than hard-reset and start over) exists

kinda sad that this could be easily solved on a Treo 650 by simply beaming each category of appointment to another Treo 650, then syncing. However, the PocketPC has no way to IR beam more than one appointment at a time...

Only on pre-WM5 devices - on them, you can export to CSV with Pocket dbExplorer. On WM5 ones, the Calendar WindowsCE database is not accessible to either Pocket dbExplorer or SKTools, the other export/import-capable application. The latter can only able to access non-PIM databases (and the former can't access anything - it's just not WM5-compliant.)

Unfortunately, I don't know a solution to this problem on the system level. You may want to try to write a small CF(2) app that does this. With pre-CF2, you'll need to use ADOCE In The Hand, http://www.inthehand.com/Adoce.aspx (see the InTheHand.WindowsMobile.PocketOutlook.Appointment class - http://www.inthehand.com/library/InTheHand.WindowsMobile.PocketOutlook.Appointment.html ).

In CF2, you can directly access the fields of all Appointments, without having to resprt to third-party libraries.

You could write your own CSV Import/Export by using the Pocket Outlook Add-In (http://www.developer.com/ws/pc/article.php/10947_3521266_1) interface ASSUMING that this is still valid for your PocketPC OS.

sorry but writing an application is beyond my limited PocketPC abilities
looks like I will have to beam all 500+ appointments to my old Treo650 (one by one since PocketPC does not provide a way to beam multiple appointments). Then I can sync my Treo650 using HotSync (which works better than ActiveStink). Then hard reset my 8125 & sync everything back over....
I better set aside a couple hours for this...

You could use Pocket Informant (http://www.pocketinformant.com/?p_id=pi) to at least BEAM all of your calendar entries in one go.
Just use the find function for calendar entries and use the keyboard to press Ctrl+A to select ALL entries in the list and then BEAM THEM.

Definately quicker than trying to do this one at a time.
If you are lucky (assuming you don't own PI) you could use the trial version to accomplish this task.

Just an IDEA. :D

thanks for the idea 8)
i will try it when i get home tonight. i just hope the corruption doesn't "beam" over to the Treo...
you just probably saved me hours of time beaming one-by-one

It worked!!!
Thanks for your help 8) :D 8)
I installed the trial version of PI. I used it to beam all my appointments to my old qtek 9100 (good thing I haven't put it on ebay yet!). It wouldn't beam all 600+ appointments at once, so I needed to filter by date until I was beaming about 200 at a time. The 9100 synced fine & I hard reset the 8125 & sync'd everything back onto the 8125. I can sync my calendar again!!!
mahalo to all that helped

:alfdance: I'm happy it worked out for you.

Maybe I'll write a CSV Import/Export for Tasks/Calendar/Contacts assuming the API hasn't changed from PocketPC 2002 which is still what I have on my old trustworth hp Jornada 568.
