I have figured out how to connect to GPRS with my ipaq 4150 using my slvr as a bluetooth modem- but they kill you on the charges...

I have a friend who used to use his BT phone as a regular modem to connect to his dialup service and use minutes instead of data.

I have roadrunner access, I have the dialup number, and I can pair the devices no sweat- when it goes to dial the phone briefly says "dialing xxx" xxx being the local access number and then it exits out and my ipaq gives me the connection failed message.

I chatted with roadrunner- the guy basically said "I can't help you do this, but maybe you should search around on google..." Roadrunner wants you to use their dialer which is not available for PPCs.

are there some advanced settings I need to do?

Couple of things to keep in mind:

Do you have a data service enabled on your mobile phone's account?

Does you mobile phone provider require you to dial the area code?

yes and yes....

turns out- from other forums- that it is a network dependent feature that cingular used to have but has now turned off- forcing us all to use GPRS...
