It looks like the Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket LOOX N500 series is a solid performer, with many other top models falling far behind.

Interesting article but the translation makes it a difficult (if not unenjoyable) read. It's a good start but could be much more elaborate.

Anyone have an estitmate as to the launch price for this? Both Clove and Expansys have them for pre-order, but of course no price. I really like what I've read about this and would love to know what it will cost Thanks for any "guesstimates"

That should be taken with a grain of salt, and I'm surprised SoloPalmari even included it.

Due to the nature of Windows Mobile 5.0's file system, its benchmark scores are much lower, so you should only really compare Windows Mobile 5.0 devices to Windows Mobile 5.0 devices.

8O The Jasjar's rock bottom of the heap for graphics - Is that right?

And the iPaq 3600 beats the pants off of all the others in total speed by at least a factor of two, except for the Loox N500. 8O 8O Manufacturers drastically need to up their ROM speeds.

Don't surprise about it, Darius. I'm sorry thers's not a good English translation of the article. In it we said: "We put the iPaq 3600 for two reasons: to demonstrate again that Wm 5.0 devices could not be compared to other OS Pdas (exactly what u said in this post), and because we don't like the number 13 (scaramantic choice  )

Due to the nature of Windows Mobile 5.0's file system, its benchmark scores are much lower, so you should only really compare Windows Mobile 5.0 devices to Windows Mobile 5.0 devices.
And also, I think, Spb Benchmark is not completely compatible with Wm 5.0 (some benchs could not be done).
Ciao, Gianni.

The C550 is arriving in 1/2 weeks on the market. So I think you'll can buy it on Clove or Expansys for about 490 Euro, but it will go down to about 460/450 in some weeks (I think).
Bye.

Great comparison :)

Gti, do you have any plans to add the Acer n300 series to the test benchmark comparison?

Just received an answer from Clove and they stated that the shipped price to the US will be approx $601.00. Guess I'll have to wait for awhile to purchase as that's way over my budget. :boohoo:

well, I think it was useful to include the 3600 because it shows how much bloat and lack of optimization exists in WM5. I remember my 3970 was a speed demon. Anythig you threw at it could be handled. Of course it was only running WM2003, but it lacked any bloat I see now with WM5.
