My PC fails to load a driver for the XV6700. I goes through the Found New Hardware process then prompts me for the folllowing driver:
mdismpx.sys
I've searched all over for this driver and no luck. Is there a problem with my .inf file for the XV6700? What is the name of the .inf file?

Can someone with a similar device tell me if there is a PocketPC USB Sync device under Device Manager > Network Adapters ? Is so, can you check the properties on the device for the driver information.
Thanks.

There are no drivers necessary for Pocket PC/Windows Mobile - all connections are handled by Activesync.
Did you install Activesync before connecting your device to your PC?

Well my eyesight isn't what it used to be. Here's the deal. I was able to install the xv6700 on my desktop system. The drivers that are loaded are
rndismpx.sys
It looks a lot like
mdismpx.sys
along with
usb8023.sys
For some reason the install program on my laptop didn't look in the Windows\System32\Drivers directory for these files. I didn't need to direct the installation program when it ran on my desktop like I did the laptop, go figure.
These files are not on the ActiveSync CD.
Everything is up and running.
