Just got my new x51v today and already love it! I was using an ipaq hx2415. I have some questions someone may be able to help with...

USB Charging: The option to enable\disable it is not present.
Keyboard Skin: Is it possible to add\change it?

TIA

Edit: Also. Is anyone using a Rhino case (http://www.saunders-usa.com/rhinoskin/?brand=34&model=192)?

I have an x50v, but I don't think that matters for your two questions. Dell charging via USB is more limited than HP. You can charge via USB if you use Dell's cable that allows a separate power cable to be plugged in. Otherwise, you can only charge via USB if you unit is turned off and you use a third party cable. My personal preference is the Lil' Sync Pro from http://www.pocketpctechs.com/ but I'm sure there are others.

I don't think you can skin the keyoboard unless you use something like Resco's keyboard (don't have time to hunt down a URL, but google should find it for you.

I have the Rhino case as well.

Thanks for the reply!

Your right. HP has better options for USB charging. I think I am going to pass on the sync cable. The only way to charge + sync + use device is the cable you mentioned that would require sync cable + ac cord. I would feel a little too restricted with 2 cords.

Keyboard skin. Well even if I cant change the skin, its still 10x better than HP's dull black\white keys ;)

I had a look at Resco and I am going to try theirs out tonight and check out the additional features it offers. Sounds like a great solution.

On the Rhino case. What do you think of it? Can you use your device while in the case? Or do you have to remove it? Any opinions on this would be great.

The USB and power cord probably isn't as bad as it sounds, but it is a little awkward.

Speaking of "a little awkward" I would probably descibe the Rhino case the same way. However, I do get quite a bit of use out of it while it is in the case, but if I'm going to working on the Axim for a while, I usually slip it out of the case. I do like the case, though. My first Axim got a cracked screen because I used a lesser case with the PPC in my pocket. That absolutely will not happen with the Rhino. Also, a number of people seem to like the look.

I think I am going to pick up that case. Its a worth while investment to protect my pda. Along with a good screen protector and I should be good to go.

Thanks for all your input.

I got an aluminum case for my X30 from ebay, and I'd recommend the same for your X50. The ebay case (at least for mine) was the same as the Boxwave one, but cost much less. I did the auction for the case + car charger. Take a look at my thread: http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=47177

I got the case and I would heartily recommend the seller. The case feels good in my hand, and the smooth aluminum looks posh. The rubberish velvet coating inside also feels good and hopefully protects the PDA. Its also not that heavy.

I don't like the exposed hinge and the design ignores lefties - I have to open the case counterintuitively because I'm a lefty.
