Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) is a new technology that allows simultaneous transmission of television, radio, video, audio and Internet content to mobile phones, PDAs, PCs and other handheld devices. The Melbourne showcase service will broadcast up to seven channels of live Commonwealth Games coverage including Channel Nine coverage of the Games on specially enabled Windows Mobile handheld devices... The handsets on display will operate using Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 software while the content is broadcast using Windows Media Video 9 compression technology to ensure efficient use of bandwidth."

Melbourne 2006 isn't all about the sports. Over the next two weeks (from March 15 to March 26), there will be plenty of toys and gadgets on show from Xbox 360s and walking, talking "mobile terminals", to DVB-H-enabled Windows Mobile 5.0-based handsets. We're not sure which devices are going to being used in the live mobile TV showcase, so if you manage to see it in action, we'd value your "thoughts" in this thread. :)

And as Australians, how much is this going to cost us? Not to mention Telstra? Any still nothing coming out of Optus!
