Does WM5 iPAQ and Acer n300 have crippled stack? NO!! Sorry, but I just think that it's outrageous that such high-end PDA doesn't even have widcomm stack. Also, Dell is the ONLY manufacturer I know who left out Microsoft's fixes to support more bluetooth devices.

I'm just tired of their horrible support for WM5 after spending hours and hours dealing with the problem on my WM5 x50v. I want WM5 on my x50v since it's a lot better than SE in many ways, but Dell's sloppy work just screwed up the OS on x50v.

I can BT DUN because I'm using a X50v (2003SE/Widcomm). The same technique doesn't work with Bill's Ipaq (2003SE/Widcomm).
Menneisyys also had a post about how his PL720(2003SE/Widcomm) couldn't detect services on his X51v(WM5/MS) but the X51 could explore the PL720's services.
Inconsistent implementation is more common than you could imagine.

My point here is that Bluetooth on WM5 Axims is ABSOLUTELY useless for any other purposes besides simple file transfer. Besides, it will work far better if x51v use Widcomm so other devices will be able to detect it's services. After all, Axim is the ONLY high-end PDA (not phone) that uses Microsoft's horrible stack and WON'T get any updates for the enhancement that MS provided in AKU 2.0.

This thread isn't topical any more ;)

You'll need to ask us (the admin) to change it, if the Edit button no longer appears in your original post.

When the WM5 OS was made available, I purchased it and upgraded my x50v, however, I had numerous problems with it. Old programs that were not updated for WM5 no longer worked properly, the system ran very, very slow due to the persistent memory (even afer I made numerous tweaks and changes to the registry settings), and it was simply frustrating to use. I decided to switch back to the original 2003 SE OS, and have had no regrets. Everything works great, no slowness or issues, etc.

I currently use the Bluetooth functionality to make an ActiveSync connection with my laptop (san cables) and I can also make a BT connection with my Motorola 815 BT phone to connect to the internet to access my email and for web browsing. BT in this capacity works great on my x50v with 2003 SE OS.

The reason that x50v with WM5 is slow is mainly due to invalid compaction thread inside filesys.exe. It's actually the problem with software implementation instead of the hardware itself. Other WM5 device isn't as slow as WM5 x50v.

To Darius, can you maybe just change the title to "No Widcomm from Dell"?
