Hey all,
My wife and daughter are going overseas for a couple of weeks. They are limited in what they can bring and are both avid readers. Since I read a lot alos, I suggested thath they take a PPC. They can take dozens of book, games, music, etc with them in a small package.

So the question is...which PPCs for them?

They don't need to be fast, or have a VGA screen. I'd like to have sd and cf capability and perhaps built in Wifi for the wife.

Ok braniacs, what should they get? Oh, and keep it cheap.

I suggest the HP 2200 series (http://thoughtsmedia.pricegrabber.com/mrdr.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fthoughtsmedia.pricegrabber.com%2Fsearch_getprod.php%3Fmasterid%3D847312) for the wife and daughter, as it is a good device, and one of the cheapest CF/SD devices.

I currently own a 2215. I was lloking at them on ebay when you responded.

Maybe we'll get another 2215 and my daughter can have mine. Then I'd be forced to get a VGA device!

If your looking for a good VGA device, take a look at the Dell Axim X50v. That's what I went to from the 2215, and I love it.

Dell's PDA are the cheapest. However, their support for Windows Mobile 5 is just maddening to even think about it.  See the followings:

thanks for the link, Patrick.... great name there ya got...

and tis the month for the celebration of said such name...

As nice as the features and the Power of the Dell units...
I don't think I would like to dabble in the frustration of Non-support or a new OS... thats just sadening... :(

I'll second the suggestion on the 2200 series iPAQs. Those devices, the more I think about it, were pretty sharp (I never owned one). The integrated bluetooth is also nice for future expansion (i.e. if either of them were to want to pair with a BT cell phone, or use BT GPS for any reason). The Dell units are nice, but they do have their share of WM 5 problems, and it may be better for your wife & daughter to be on a 2003 based machine just so they don't have to deal with some of the quirks we're still working out on the WM 5 machines.

I think I've decided on the 2200 series iPaq. I've had mine for 2 1/2 years now and it's performed well. This way, we can also share accessories!
