Spb Backup and Rom upgrades

Can anyone tell me if they have tried Spb Backup between rom upgrades on their WM5 device.

I need to update my device rom (the manufacturer recommends I do this to improve stability and speed) but I dont want to go through the hassle of reinstalling all my programs again - it takes too long.

Will Spb Backup do this ?

I emailed them and they said they do not officially support this feature but I could try it at my own risk.

If spb backup does not do this - is there another backup program that will ?

It is highly recommended that you install everything again.
On the other hand, you can still restore the PIM databases(do partial restore) without creating any problem. ROM upgrades generally tweak the OS and internal registry stuff. Therefore, one should do a fresh reinstall of everything.
