The new release includes support for ActiveSync 4.x, three different mouse sizes, and improved clipboard behaviour. It seems like a top-notch application, and its users certainly approve of it; so, if you've always wanted to use your PC to control your Pocket PC, download the free trial version from Handango. The full version is available for $19.00. [Affiliate]

About 1 year ago, I was searching for this type of remote control program for my PocketPC and found this company's solution to the remote control. I have now used this program on a daily basis for 1 year and just love it. I have the need to enter data directly onto my PocketPC and picking away with the popup keyboard and stylus just does not do it for me. This program is lightening fast and allows a person to use their existing computer keyboard and mouse to directly control their pocket pc device. This program is so useful even if you just want to enter some calendar appointments and address as it is so much easier using your computers keyboard and mouse! This program not only has the advantage of being fast and using your existing computer but also does NOT take up additionals screen space on your computer but you use your existing PPC device and can see the mouse moving directly on your PPC device. This is not only useful to me...but pretty cool too!

If you need to actually work with your Pocket PC device very much when also working at your computer.....I have found this to be one great solution.

I have tried and downloaded many different programs, but this small-sized program is definitely in my Top 3. It is quite easy to install, once you discover how to make the right group configuration between your desk top PC and your PPC. The program offers extremely easy text entry using the desk top keyboard, and this with a remarkable speed, no hesitations whatsoever. It enables you to use the desk top mouse on your PPC just by crossing the monitor's edge of the desk top right to the PPC, while the PPC is in its craddle : this is so easy, forget the stylus when working on your desk top computer and having your PPC docked at the same time. I am just wondering : how did the developer succeeded in making this possible ?

I give no credence whatsoever to the above two posts. Obvious shills both... Even so, it's nice to have some competition for pocket controller. They have a very poor upgrade and licensing policy. Hope this new product is good. I'll definitely test it when my next PPC purchase or the next major OS update rolls around.

Other than the Pocket PC support, Synergy does the same thing as this software, and it's free! I've been using it for some time now and it works very well.

Just for clarification. I am no shill as was maybe indicated. I also own Pocket Controller. I really do use Desktop Rover every day. Pocket Controller is a GREAT program but Desktop Rover blows it socks off interms of speed and not using desktop real estate. I really do need to do data entry onto my pocketpc for todo tracking, timelog recording, etc, etc, etc. I am in NO WAY associated with the manufacturer of this product....although he has added a couple of features that I requested!!! Yea!

I just know I had to search the internet to find this program and hope my post will be noticed by others that might have the same need!!!!

Shindullin, I don't care if you believe me or not. You can not compare Pocket Controller (which I am using as well) with Desk Top Rover. Do exactly what you say and try it yourself.
Perry Reed, does Synergy work with a desk top PC and a pocket PC, or, only between desk top PC's ?

To the best of my knowledge, Synergy does NOT support Pocket PCs. It does support Windows, Linux, and Macs, however. It is open source, though, so I suppose someone could take it upon themself to port it to Pocket PCs.
