I'm using a Dell Axim X51v ROM A06 running WM5. My office is upstairs in a small building, it's actually the only office up here. If I go to the top of the stairs and go down two steps... I can logon with the PDA. Ten feet to the left I can't. Is there any inexpensive and simple trick I can do to improve my range to the wireless router? I cannot touch or modify the router as the IT Consultant would have a baby.

Is there a software utility that might tweak my settings? I'm not a super geek but I can follow instructions (I think). HA!

BTW, they're using a LinkSys wireless router here.

The cheapest, most effective solution would be to book an appointment for the IT guy to see an OB-GYN. :smirk:
Seriously, just mention this as an off-hand issue and suggest a $40 omnidirectional antenna. This will in no way affect any settings but will certainly cure signal loss.
Let us know ....if it's a boy or a girl.

If you need ot to be directional, apparently an old frying pan can be quite effective ;-)

More sriously - it's also possible to get hi-gain antennas and repeater stations. You may find that if, for instance, your building has thick concrete walls and floors, the repeater is more useful ...
