I have eventually managed to persuade work to allow me to have ActiveSync on my work PC to sync my iPaq 4150.

Problem is - our C:\ drive is very locked down (only the temp directory can be written to) and hence the C:\Program Files directory is locked. Because of this, any time I try and install an app on my iPaq, it can't install.

Anyone got any bright ideas around this ? I know that if I have a cab file, I can manually install, but most of the time you only get an installer.

Any help greatly appreciated !

Activesync creates a folder on the C:\ drive called Microsoft Activesync where .cab files are usually stored after installing a program. Can you can get into that folder?

Will your workplace let you install a cardd reader? That would allow you to save your .exe files away from the C:\ drive.

Overall though it sounds like you'll have to do all your installing at home.

Another idea: I have a similar situation at my workstation, so I have gotten used to installing from the .cab files. If you can locate the .cab files for your apps, then they can be installed directly from your PocketPC.
