I was wondering has anybody heard anything on new ipaqs?
It seems that HP discontinued the hx4700 series which is a damn shame!! but no one knows what it's going to be replaced with.
If anyone has any feedback please let me know so I won't have to get a....uggh (Dell Axim 51v)!!!

HP had put up 6900 series on their website few days ago.
Yeah, you are right, there are no rumors of 'updated' hx4700 series.
But, who knows? They may surprise us again.
HP seems to be more phone-edition centric this year

I'm always a little bemused by this type of thread. Being as this is a major Pocket PC news site, if there was any news on new HP models it would have been posted here already...! A quick forum search will reveal anything is known. Isn't it a little odd to assume that people know stuff but for some reason haven't said anything because they've, what, been waiting for someone to ask...?

HP does seem to be extremely obsessed with phone-oriented pocket pc's. And ever since their merger with compaq they seem to be popping out tons and tons of different ipaqs in their lineups.
This kind of irks me, because when they first started they had the h1910, the h2210, the h5500 series. This was mostly it, and it was pretty simple. Now they have all the rx's and the hx's and the ridiculous amounts of different ipaqs, which they don't even offer support for! I understand technology advances, but c'mon.
For instance, the h2215, which is my current pocket pc and has been since it frist came out (the best one I've owned yet), has much better specs than many of the lower end ipaqs today (namely ROM size, screen quality, processor, etc..), and yet, those lower end ipaqs have most importantly an updated OS. However, HP explains that the 2215 is somehow too obsolete to carry the newer OS's.
bull.
And I know this has been discussed before, but I just felt like stating it again.
Now, back to the point, I sure do hope hp puts out some decent pocket pc's in the future, because frankly when they do put out new ones they are pretty dang good (for the first five minutes after they're announced, after which point hp seems to get alzheimers and forgets about them). And I do look forward to purchasing another ipaq, but frankly until they get their act together, my money is stayin in my pocket, where it's value can grow, unlike the new ipaqs.

first of all,I want to know because I had to send mine's back to HP because out of fear of the motherboard cracked.which it was.
i was willing to pay the $278.+s&h which would come to almost $300 but at the same timeHP has no ipaq like this w/a large screen. the 2795 is a measly 3.5" display.

Not true. Those were not the first IPAQs. There were many models before then, such as the 3800, 3900, and several others.

Not to mention the whole Jornada line.

Not that it matters, but if you read the dude's original post, he was talking about models that were available AFTER the merger of HP and Compaq. Times were indeed simpler then...but not as much fun as now! I say to HP: keep the models coming until you get one right.

What I meant was that those were the first ipaq models after the Compaq-HP merger, when hp came in and started screwing around.

Yes, I got a little off topic, but I just had to vent :D However, I think hp should just get it right before they shoot the models out. Otherwise it's just a waste, as they obviously don't support the "failed" models. That's just not kind to customers, something that, no matter how large the company, they should always strive for.
