What's your pick when it comes to day to day browsing? Which one has the smallest memory footprint?

I just need some opinions to push me over the line to buy one of them as I'm sitting on the fence trying to decided which one at the moment.

What makes netfront better than PIEplus and vice versa? They seem quite similar to me apart from the fact that NetFront seems to support java better.

PIEplus is just a browser add-on. It doesnt changes the internal framework.
In other words, it just adds some of the features which are missing in Pocket Internet Explorer

On the other hand, Netfront is a different product. It is not a add-on to Pocket IE. It is a completly different browser. It has its own framework. Technically, Netfront is more advanced and also supports Java. It is a fine product overall

Which one has the smallest memory footprint?

Pocket IE is already there in the ROM. Netfront has to be purchased and installed separetly(7-8MB)

Also, there a new browser for PPC users, Opera

First, what Windows Mobile OS do you have? WM5 or a pre-WM5 device? Depending on this, you will need to turn to complteley different solutions. PIEPlus, for example, doesn't work on WM5 (and is pretty buggy on previous OS'es, as can be seen here (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=46451)). On the other hand, Opera is only reliable under WM5.

In addition to what pocketpcadmirer said, you may want to read this thread here at Pocket PC Thoughts (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/index.php?action=expand,42026), Make sure you also read all my newer articles linked from the thread so that you will know which browser to choose.

Thanks for the advice. I have a ipaq 4150 so it's not a WM5 device.

Which one, out of the two would you pick yourself?

I also want advice Opera to you. It is beta-version at the moment, but already with great functionality and works stable on my device HP 1940 (It is very similar with your HP 4150).

Here it is: http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/products/winmobileppc

Ah okay, I'm a big fan of opera for the desktop, haven't tried it on the 4150 yet. I'll give it a go. Cheers.

I use NetFront and am satisfied with it. I highly recommend you try it. IMO it is much faster than PIE. Try the Technical Preview version.

On a 4150? Give Opera a go to see whether you can put up with the stalling bug of the beta version.

NetFront is also very good, especially the latest, 1.04 version, but is considerably slower than Opera to load pages.

You could try Minimo from Mozilla

I'd like to add a third opinion. I use and highly recommend MultiIE (http://www.southwaycorp.net/multiie.htm) as a PIE enhancement tool. Spend the Extra $3 dollars, Well $8 dollars now with the PIEPlus sale going on.

I'd root for netfront too. I'm running ver 3.2 and once I changed the default courier font to tahoma, I find it really good. Very good standards support and very stable. Lots of settings like zoom, full screen etc. And it does multi-tabbing very well. It does hog a lotta memory when i go beyond 3 tabs at a time, though. To be frank, I haven't tried PIE plus or multi IE, but from what I've seen on the forums, they just enhance the visual experience of PIE, but don't do a thing as far as PIE's spotty standards support is concerned. After all, what you'd want is to be able to browse all sites just as you could on a desktop [or as nearly a possible] right? Netfront definitely lets you do that. My 2 cents. :-]
