I have tried SMScool and Dr. Neil...

I heartily recommend the free (!) FMA http://fma.sourceforge.net/ , it's a great app and also capable of group SMS sending as can be seen here:

Works great with a lot of phones - has never had any problems with any phone I've thrown it at.
