http://www.theunwired.net/?itemid=2917

"HTC and Orange, today announced at the 3GSM Congress the latest slim-line, ultra-powerful compact PDA with Microsoft push E-Mail capability for the UK, France and the Netherlands markets. The handset, better known as HTC Prophet, runs on Microsoft's latest Windows Mobile 5.0 platform and supports quad-band GSM, GPRS and EDGE and is delivering instant high speed voice and data communications for the mobile workforce and consumer segments."

Current and future Orange customers who don't want to spring for the extra cost of an unlocked, unbranded version of the HTC Prophet (in the form of the i-mate JAMin or the Qtek S200) will be happy to know that their wireless carrier will offer this device. Though the price of the M600 is not yet determined, it is expected to be released later this spring. As a sidenote: while Orange has every right to brand their devices any designation they see fit, it could cause some confusion on forums or when shopping for accessories, since the M600 name (as well as M500) is also used by manufacturer E-TEN for their Phone Edition devices. :|

hi,

the article mentions that some users may want to pay extra for an unlocked, unbranded device. this may be my case, but i have never had experience with a branded device.

what are the potential limitations of going with an orange version of the htc prophet ?

i am willing to pay full price if need be, but would hate to pay extra if i can get the same device through orange. thanks,

scott
