Does anyone have any issues with Microsoft Money 2006 (2.05) in Windows Mobile 5.0? I have two problems (so far) with Money 2006 in my Axim X51:

- tap-and-hold on accounts, categories, payees, etc does not work, hence cannot edit details or delete entries
- all database (accounts, categories, payees, etc) is gone at soft-resets

Here's where I got Money 2006 from: http://www.microsoft.com/money/MoneyForHandHeldDevices.mspx

Any solution? I desperately need Money 2006 to work on my Axim X51 as my financial management has come to a halt now... :(

I last tried the mobile version of Money 2006 back when I was still using Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition, so I can't really comment on Windows Mobile 5.0 compatibility. According to this (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=6F040B65-42F5-4DCA-B301-9F05A8583692&Displaylang=en) page, it only supports Pocket PC 2002 and Windows Mobile 2003, so that may actually be the cause of all the issues you've been experiencing.

Truth be told, I gave up on the mobile version of Money a long time ago. If you don't mind paying for a third-party solution, then check out Spb Finance (http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/finance/?en) (a trial is available). It supports syncing with Microsoft Money, and comes packed with a lot of other goodies.

@Darius Wey: Thanks for your feedback. I was still using Money 2006 last week when I'm still on iPAQ h4150 (WM2003) and it work flawlessly. Got myself Axim X51 (for WM5.0) late last week and numerous application stop working properly in WM5.0.
Anyway, any other Money 2006-look-a-like application to recommend me other than Spb Finance? FYI, I don't need to sync with desktop PC, gonna use it entirely in Axim X51. Also, preferably those with simple, easy to use interface.

Anyone else has the same issues that I have and/or found any solutions?

Gosh, I found a few resources that confirmed the incompatibility of Windows Mobile 5.0 with any version of Money (2003/2004/2005/2006) for Pocket PC. More info:

http://www.pdagold.com/forums/view_topic.asp?t=5978

http://www.1-script.com/forums/Re-AS-40-hangs-while-syncing-with-Money-2006-article3637-12.htm

And why does Microsoft have some sort of warnings on Money for Pocket PC not working in Windows Mobile 5.0 available at the download page?

Anyway, please lead me to some no-frills expense/finance application. Thanks

Spb Finance is available as a stand-alone application, so you can try that.

Otherwise, there is:
• PocketExpense Pro (http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_pe_overview.html) by ScaryBear Software.
• Cash Organizer '05 (http://www.inesoft.com/eng/index.php?in=premium.htm) by Inesoft.
• WorldMate (http://www.mobimate.com/catalog_ppc.shtml?filename=windows_pc.jpg) by MobiMate.

@Darius Wey: Thanks for the suggestions. Spb Finance and Cash Organizer are too bulky for me. Gonna check out PocketExpense Pro and WorldMate later. If the latter doesn't cut it, I may as well go for Spb Finance (Pocket PC Magazine's award for best finance software in 2005, if I can recall correctly)

Hi David,

Spb Finance has a special component - Quick Entry for simple and fast transaction entering. It need some basic data in the database, but it's very simple and really fast in use. I personally always use it for quick transaction entering (such as a lunch or a fuel for my car).

Fill free to contact our support or directly me (air [at] softspb [dot] com) if needed.

@Denis Khitrov: Does Spb Finance install everything by default? I'm hoping that I can select only the features that I want (core features only, not a fan of quick-entry/budgets/reports/graphs/etc) - much like Resco Eplorer 2005, where they have options to only install the basic Explorer and/or Registry Editor, FTP, Today Plug-Ins, etc.
