WMP 10 keeps starting ActiveSync

I recently yielded to constant pressure to upgrade from WMP 9 to 10. One immediate downside is that whenever I run WMP 10 it starts up ActiveSync. I normally have that switched off (with the neat tool KillSync), as I resent its constant use of 6-9% of my PC (XP Home) resources. I just switch it on for the few times when I want to sync a file to/from my iPAQ 2210 Pocket PC.

Is there a setting somewhere that will let me switch this annoyance off please?

Thanks David. I unregistered cewmdm.dll and fired up WMP 10 - and AS 3.7.1 came up too :(

But I wonder if I need to reboot to get it to work? I can't do so right now, but will report back later after doing so.
