You can't get WMP as a standalone product. What media files are you trying to play? There a lot of alternatives for both music files and video files.

You can try feederreader, but I'm not sure if it supports PPC2002:

That's a Windows Media 9 stream and even Windows Media Player 10 Mobile has problems with some of those. TCPMP couldn't open KAZN either.
This is from the help file at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/knowledgecenter/helpdocs.aspx
Although Windows Media Player for Pocket PC supports all the variants of the Windows Media Audio 9 codec (including the Windows Media Audio 9, Windows Media Audio 9 Professional, Windows Media Audio 9 Voice, and Windows Media Audio 9 Lossless codecs), the following variants are only partially supported:
•Windows Media Audio 9 Professional codec. Multiple channels are combined into a stereo mix during playback. Depending upon the audio playback capabilities of your device, content with an audio sampling rate higher than 48 kilohertz (KHz) might be played as 48 KHz.
•Windows Media Audio 9 Lossless codec. Depending upon the audio playback capabilities of your device, content with an audio sampling rate higher than 48 kilohertz (KHz) might be played as 48 KHz.

Being unable to listen to most online radio stations is a very common problem with the built-in Windows Media Player shipped Pocket PC 2002 devices: the client tries to connect but fails at this, always presenting the following error message:

There're only few radio startions that it can play (for example, Radio Japan online at mms://rj-wmt-m.gekimedia.net/rj56 (see this screenshot (http://www.winmobiletech.com/kuvat/WMP8GekiMedia.bmp.png) in action). The rest (for example, mms://210.118.193.140/kazn ) just won't work.
The solution to this problem is installing
1. the free WMP8 upgrade (build 0103). (Please note that the WMP8 version, build 0096, on the iPAQ 36xx Pocket PC 2002 CD, won't work with the PIE plug-in; this is why you need to install this build on top of build 0096). It no longer can be found at its previous location (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/software/pocket/playerupdate.aspx); therefore, I made it available here (http://www.winmobiletech.com/sekalaiset/WMP8Update.zip)
2. the free Windows Media Player Control. It no longer can be found at its previous location (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/create/embedppc.aspx) either. I've also made it available here (http://www.winmobiletech.com/sekalaiset/WM8PIEPlugIn.zip). Just install it on top of the already-existing WMP8 build 0103 installation.
As can be seen in this screenshot (http://www.winmobiletech.com/kuvat/WMP8PlaysWM9AudioStream.bmp.png), the station works just great after the upgrade.
Also note that this is all you can achieve with the iPAQ 36xx series as WMP 8.5 released in EUU3 has never been ported to the iPAQ 36xx series, only to devices with 32Mbytes of ROM. Therefore, if you have a 32M ROM device, look for either EUU3 (or, with some devices, EUU4) for version 8.5 instead.
As far as WM9-compliance is concerned, WMP8 can play most WM9 audio streams. It's only WM9 video streams that it can't render. Radio stations work just great.
