View Full Version : My Active Sync crashed!
I have Dell Axim x51v and Active sync 4.1. I sync it w/a 700 HP PavillionI have been having probs w/my computer so out of desperation I installed System Mechanic Professional 6 to clean things up. Boy things worked a lot better I'll tell ya. Shortly after that I went to re-install Phat Notes and my system crashes. My Kapersky Anti Hacker Firewall now won't let active sync touch my computer as it seems to see it as a threat. It appears to be right. When I turn off Kapersky and try to sync. I have a serious crash. My system turns right off. When I turn it back on it states that my system has just recovered from a serious error. I have tried reinstalling active sync. It reinstalls on desktop but it can't connect w/axim. Same problem. It goes right back to crashing again. Does anybody have a clue to what might be causing this? Any help would be appreciated thank you.
Most of my problems have disapeared thanks SMP. I sure hope that isn't the root of this problem. I wrote them and they couldn't tell me much. They sent me a couple things but it didn't help.
Microsoft are checking into it I guess. That's what they say when I send them the error message. So they don't know either.

Couple points:
- Many firewalls cause trouble with ActiveSync 4.1. You may want to try turning it off, or "adding an exception" for ActiveSync.
- If, by the last paragraph, you mean you are sending an "error report" to Microsoft, that doesn't mean they will get back to you. You're sending them crash information that they may use to help make future versions of Windows more stable, but that is not immediate technical support.
- If you're having a computer that crashes when you look at it wrong, that's a bad sign for your computer's functionality in general, and it may spill over to ActiveSync. From how you describe it, you may want to consider reinstalling the machine (or having a professional do it). I don't know about SMP, but some tools can cause more problems than solve them.

Thank you for responding. Appreciate it.
I cleaned off all the old stuff from active sync. I found some garbage left behind from a program called Mobile Biz. No offense to him. When he gets it working right it's going to be good program. It is supposed to sync w/quickbooks. I've had some probs so w/this one so I thought I would reinstall and uninstall and then clean up what garbage was left. After that no more sync probs. In my humble opinion 90% of probs on computer is something's been deleted or changed or you've got some garbage that's been left behind.

"Unfortunately the techs from the company I bought this computer from can barely speak english and when they due they aren't much help. Last time I spent two weeks on the phone with them 40 hours a week and they never did fix my problem! I finally sent my computer back and it got "lost" and they claimed that my routing numbers were no good. So I literally lost my computer thank to computer techs. So understandly I didn't want to deal with these people anymore. I am waiting to wear out this computer so I can either turn it into a server or a vcr and get a Dell (Yowsa!). In my neck of the woods if your playin 21 and they call a guy a mechanic it's because he is rigging the deck."
In my case, having had some experience w/failure on computer I have found SMP to be quite wonderful. I tried it out of desperation which is the best time in my opinion. After all that's when you go to when you go to see a real mechanic and they also can do more harm than good. Anytime you mess w/the registry you are asking for trouble and I used this product out of desperation let me tell you. But it seems to have brought my computer back to the point where I can use it again. I am slowly working through these little problems because I can keep my computer going thanks to this program. I think this is the last one! I'm all new again. I understand your worry but I have to give credit where credit is due. I've had problems with these types of progs to and I would never recommend them to anybody.

Understood, and best of luck on your (slow) cleanup.
