So close. If WM5 gets its bugs ironed out, this may be my iPaq replacement.

Very tempting . . . . Though the n560 (also Fujitsu) is also rumoured to be out in March and is basically the same unit (VGA included) though with 256mb ROM and integrated GPS.

http://www.firstloox.org/VGAppc.htm

Will be interesting to see if it will be cheaper to buy a bluetooth GPS with the C550 or to go with the n560.

Either way, does anyone have any good leads on how to get one of these guys in Canada?

I got my loox from www.clove.co.uk. They have the new models on preorder.

Can't compete with the Axim if it doesn't have CF. :-(

hmm... I was kind of expecting the rumored "ultimate" device instead of this. Is there ever going to be such device from Fujitsu?

There is the N560 due in March (as mentioned earlier) - supposedly, 624MHz CPU, GPS, VGA, etc. More info here. (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=45614)

The N560 and the T830 will be a pretty decent device, as far as the specs are concerned (except for some serious problems like the missing 2700g in the N560 and the 240*240 screen in the T830). I wish they hit the market FAR earlier though...

Again no CF :( . Otherwise, this would have been the ULTIMATE device

I'm really glad there is SOME progress towards a "pocketable" VGA PocketPC, but I was hoping for more.

My beloved iPaq 1910 was 120 grams (less than 70% of my x50v's 175 grams.) The size was also in the "30% smaller" range. The c550 really isn't very much smaller or lighter than the x50v.

It's like we've been going backwards on pocketability since December of 2002 when the 1910 came out. With all the progress on phone and camera screens, I'm at a loss as to why we can't just get a 1910 equivalent with VGA by now.

Maybe you are not looking around enough?

Palm V....... 115.0 x 80.0 x 10.0 mm 114 g

Acer N311 110.0 x 70.0 x 13.7 mm 135 g

Ipaq 1910 113.3 x 69.8 x 12.8 mm 124 g

If this isn't pocketable, I dont know what is. And you get so much more for that extra 10g and 1 mm in thickness. Like WIFI, Bluetooth, VGA screen and USB host, 1200 vs 900 mah battery, 400 Mhz processor vs 203 Mhz processor, proper 3.5 mm headphone jack (vs 2.5mm on the 1910). Time to move into the future I think.

Actually I'd LOVE to buy an Acer (I've been drooling over it for some time) but they aren't being sold in the U.S. If Acer brings it to market, I'd buy it the same day I see it.

I think this (http://global.acer.com/products/pda/spec_pda_n300.htm) is your dream device?

Size*
110 (L) x 70 (W) x 13.7 (H) mm
4.33 (L) x 2.76 (W) x 0.54 (H) inches

Weight* 135 g
4.76 oz.

Edit: oops  , didn't see Surur's post.

Is the Acer actually on sale somewhere? I would be willing to buy one via UK or Singapore (Brando-ish type) site if the price isn't too stupid.

I pretty much thought this was vaporware at this point. :(

Can you read Traditional Chinese? This is a good/reliable online store from Taiwan. (http://www.mobuy.com.tw/shop/product.asp?pid=10002378) It's approximately $400.

There was some serious issues reported at Mobile01 a while ago when n300 first came out, but I believe everything has been fixed now.

The only thing keeping that Acer from being the 'ultimate' machine is an intell 2700g for 3D gfx and VGA out and maybe USB 2.0 host. That's a pretty small compaint though. :-)

To me, it's what the HP Rx1950 should have been.

It's like some kind of cruel joke. I've been wanting one for months since the first pictures showed up. It's the first thing with specs that really excite me, but it's just not available. Bummer!

I don't recall anyone coming in here and saying "I now own a n311". If it's really out there, why haven't we seen any personal impressions of the device here on PPCT?

I am soooooo itching to get this device. I check Expansys USA every day, hoping against hope that today will be the day that it shows up in their listings.

If I had a friend in Europe purchase one, would I be able to obtain a U.S regulation AC adapter for it? Is there anything else that would prevent it from being used in the U.S.?
