I'm curious about what benefits this software brings beyond the the Explore option in ActiveSync 4.1, and wonder if there is someone out there that uses ot on WM5 and would be willing to comment. I have looked at the vendor website and realize that it allows you to use other file explorers and save directly to the storage card in the PPC from desktop applications, but is that it?

How are people using this software on Windows Mobile devices?

I find it very useful because I use a PowerBook as my main computer and rarely like using my PC...when I need to transfer files, it's much easier to just pop in the cable and use it as a USB mass storage device. I use it to drag and drop photos from iPhoto and iTunes into the appropriate folders on my K-Jam's memory card.

As for synchronizing, I don't do it often since I tend to keep all my organization device-side instead of on the computer since I'm constantly away from a computer to begin with (the life of a college student...I live in the library). I just enter Tasks and calendar items as they are given to me (i.e. Meet with Professor X at this time...so I enter it in...the phone's always in my vicinity). File transfer is my biggest deal...as for installations, I attempt to extract the cab from the exe and then copy it over as well.

I use it in Unversity an on other machines. My Universal appears as a removable drive and charges at the same time!

Same here - it becomes really useful when you need to transfer files to or from machines that don't have activesync, and you don't need to carry a thumbdrive anymore.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! It confirms my suspicion that it's not really that necessary if your primary exchange is between a WM5 device and a Windows workstation.

If you're only interacting with a couple of machines, then no it's not necessary. Since activesync doesn't come standard with XP though, it's incredibly useful when you need acess with more machines.

after installing and soft resetting, the card export ii program appears on my qtek 9100. however, when i try to switch from activesync to card export, i receive the following error:

card export ii
cannot switchg between card export and activesync modes. this may be because of missing dlls or corrupted registry entries.

i have contacted softick support and they suggested i uninstall and reinstall, but got the same results. can someone confirm that this works on their qtek 9100 or i-mate kjam?

still this does not work on my x51v. Windows XP cannot recognize the USB driver for it.

cricmate, so you got card export installed, but XP won't recognize it? have you tried it on other machines? other os's?

coeptum, what device are you trying to install it on?

Tested on QTEK 9100 (SPV M3000) and Windows XP :
- Installation works fine ;
- XP sees the PPC's card as an USB memory drive ;
- Files can be copied from the PPC's card to XP, and now from XP to the PPC's card.

Switching from Card Export mote to ActiveSync mode can be done without disconnecting USB cable.

But, after an ActiveSync synchronization via USB, switching from ActiveSync mode to Card Export mode is not possible, either disconnecting USB cable or not ; then to switch back to Card Export mode, a soft reset has to be done.

However, it is possible to synchronize with ActiveSync via Bluetooth, and be connected via USB in Card Export mode at the same time ; then XP sees the PPC's card as an USB memory drive, and sees the main memory file system of the PPC in the "Mobile device" part.

So, for me it works great, appart this small problem with wich I can deal.

I'm now very happy with my new USB 1 Gb drive that is my PDA Phone !!!

I have tried on both my desktop and laptop. Same problem. Both of them have active sync installed, could that be an issue?

Got this this to work, here's how I did it. When I get the error message after switching from AS to CE mode, I soft reset my device. I don't even acknowledge the message. After my device came back up, I've been able to toggle back and forth between AS and CE mode. I don't know why this is, but it worked for me.

There's a quick fix available for the Axim X50v/X51v:

Not sure, but is the quick fix rolled into v2.11 of Card Export? If so, why didn't they change the version number?

I'm assuming the quick fix is rolled into v2.11 if acquired on or after February 7. If downloaded before February 7, it won't have the quick fix. I'm not sure why they didn't change the version number. It makes it a lot more confusing. :?

Have you installed it? I did and it still says v2.11.

Have you installed it?

Nope, I don't really need Card Export II anymore, but I still keep track of updates for all you other users. :)

I had to reload my Qtek 9100, so I loaded v2.16 of Card Export II. I can switch back and forth between AS and CE, but none of the 3 different XP machines recognize it as a valid mass storage device. One machine displays the yellow "!" and give me a "This device cannot start". While another doesn't give a yellow "1", but the details of the driver show "This device has no drivers".

I've sent a email to Softick support, I hope they can provide further insight.
