Great application, i guess i have to install .NET CF2 just cause of this. Definatelly a must-have if you have a wifi in your PDA.

Guess I'll keep using the old one.
Not gonna waste space on .net.

I tried this on my SP5 WM5 Smarphone but it doesn't work unfortunately. I was hoping it would, because there aren't any WiFi sniffers available for Smartphone so far (Obviously because there was no need until now).

That .NET 2.0 is a real space hog

Works great on x50v with WM5. Not very anxious about memory usage with WM5.

hi, I decided to jump to v2.0 from 0.3.3 to make it clear about the dependency on CF 2.0. This version has been significantly tested for over a month by our forum visitors so its well worth the upgrade especially if you want to do GPS war driving.

I sent a smartphone test version to someone and it seems to be working fine. I ordered a qtek 8310 and once I've tested it myself I'll post it on our site.

Unlike 0.3.3, this one actually WORKED on my PDA, so I've got it installed. Granted, NetCF takes up 5 MB of storage, but the application itself is still on the small side (150K), and I've other programs which also use CF 2.0, so it's a sacrifice I can live with.

I'd like to try this program but don't understand where and how to install the NET Framework stuff. I put it on my 2 Gig CF card thinking I shouldn't hog up precious memory. When I click on the install program for WFFF, I'm told I need the Net program. A little confusing because I can't find any installtion instructions.

Can anyone help or provide a link that shows how to install this particular app?

TIA!

You should install the .NET CF in main memory rather than a storage card.

Uninstall your existing installations, then start over by reinstalling the .NET CF, then WFFF.

Darius...

Maybe you can help me out. I feel like a bufoon because I keep trying to install the program and screwing it up. My biggest problem seems to be getting in some sort of endless install loop. I download the WiFiFoFum2installer and click on it. I get a message that I need to install the NET Framework program before I install the app, so would I like to be directed to the MS site to DL the file. I say yes and go to a page with no specifc file dates, but various NET* files so I'm kind of wondering. I have tried a few and downloaded them to my laptop, which is my PDA's Active Sync host. This is probably where I screw up. I guess I'm supposed to install the NET Framework program to my notebook, and I think I have... but I don't know whether it's a program or a dll or what to look for?

Then I try and click on the WiFiFoFum2Installer and I get that same message (you'll need to DL the lastest NET Framework....) again. Should I be looking for something else other than that complete installer package? Is there a WFFF file like a cab file that is needed to do this properly? I've been able to install apps like pocketbreeze, and pocket weather on my Axim without a glitch... but maybe WFFF is trying to tell me something?

If you can explain the install in a manner fit for a bufoon, maybe I'll get lucky and be able to install the NET Framework properly. Then my next big hurdle will be how to install the actual WFFF application to the Axim and where. I know you have to install _something_ from NET Framework to the "Device". Can I install the actual WFFF application to my CF card?

Thanks in advance for the help.

The first step is to install .NET Compact Framework 2.0 on your Pocket PC, not the .NET Framework 2.0. They're two different things.

Visit this page (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9655156b-356b-4a2c-857c-e62f50ae9a55&DisplayLang=en) and download the NETCFSetupv2.msi file. Execute this file on your PC and let it install what it needs to. Ensure your Pocket PC is docked, so it can push the relevant CAB files over to your Pocket PC for auto-installation. After installation on your Pocket PC, you'll be prompted to soft-reset it. Now that's the .NET Compact Framework taken care of.

Next on the agenda is WiFiFoFum. Download the CAB file here (http://www.aspecto-software.com/WiFiFoFum/files/WiFiFoFum2.CAB) and copy it over to a folder on your Pocket PC. Next, load File Explorer and tap the CAB file to install it. If you're using a Windows Mobile 5.0 device, you'll be prompted to install it to a location of your choice - that is, the device's main memory or a memory card. If you're using a Windows Mobile 2003 device, then you'll need a third-party installer application such as CabInstl in order to choose the destination path for the installation.

Darius... Thanks so much for the simple explanation and directions. Got it installed in a few minutes so I'll ask one more question; Is there a good tutorial on setup and use of WFFF? I got the radar screen up, but it's not even showing my wireless network.

Is there a good tutorial on setup and use of WFFF? I got the radar screen up, but it's not even showing my wireless network.

You'll need to enable the scanning option of WFFF. This FAQ page (http://www.aspecto-software.com/xoops/modules/news/article.php?storyid=4) may answer some of the burning questions on your mind.
