Just curious, for those that have an x51v, what is your basic free program memory?

After a soft reboot with no AS I have 25MB free
With AS running I have 22MB

I have done the memory tweaks but is it me or is this pretty low? Could just be that WM5 is a hog.

WM5 is a hog - but not that big of a hog. The 25MB sounds really low.

Yes 25 MB looks pretty low to me.
What apps have you installed ?

Well I have several installed but what's running on my Today screen is:
Battery Pro 2.1.1 (and it's program bar)
Journal Bar v3.4.5
VBirthday Delux 4.0.52

I installed a trial copy of MemMaid and it reports in it's running process the following:
gwes.exe 5.58 MB
shell32.exe 2.68MB
filesys.exe 2.55MB
device.exe 1.54 MB
repllog.exe 535.64 KB
tmail.exe 191.71 KB
rapiclnt 183.81 KB

These are the top 7

Well I started removing programs, etc. to try and find what's using the memory. I eventually got to the point of a Hard Reset. Here are the results after that reset, no AS running:

Total: 49.47 MB
In Use: 17.15 MB
Free: 32.32 MB

I noticed between the 3 built in today screens the Bubbles yields the most Free memory, than Default and last the Dell default. Memory usages was less than .5 MB though.

What appears to be my biggest hitter was the Battery Bar and Program Bar from the application Battery Pack Pro 2.1.1, this used about 5 MB of free memory. Unfortuantely I really like these two apps.

Does anyone know of similar battery/memory monitors and a program quick launcher that don't suck up as much memory?

Do these memory numbers look better after a total reset?

Why do you need more than 25 MB of space to run programs anyway? As stated by other people, you hardly use up 10 MB of memory with 10 or more applications running in background. It should be enough unless you're trying to play games like Tony Hawk skater 2 or GeoRally. BTW, my WM5 x50v only has 29MB free after a fresh hard-reset.

Well, if I think about it, I am due to get my new x51v in a few days so as soon as I get it, i'll check the memory size/availabilty of the unit fresh out of the box. I only use a few medical/pharmecuetical programs on my PDA so I should have a fair amount of memory available even after installing them.

You can try iLauncher from SBSH (it might be using less memory but I don't know for sure) http://www.sbsh.net/products/ilauncher/

Also HandyLauncher/HandyMenu from DinarSoft (those 2 have a very small memory usage)
