I still use my Ipaq 3970 everyday and love it! I really don't have any problems with it. However, my brother lives abroad and we like to talk on skype. So, I thought I'd put the ppc version of Skype on my 3970. Too bad I am still running ppc2002 and Skype will only run on 2k3 and up. That's when I decided to bite the bullet and just upgrade through hp. That's where I ran into some bad news. This is what I found:

The Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 upgrade is no longer available to purchase from HP. Please visit our SMB Store for a current list of available iPAQ upgrades.

Just to be sure, I checked that site to verify it. Nope, not there either. How long has this been revoked and what do I do now? Any suggestions?

To my understanding, HP stopped selling it over a year ago. If you wish to acquire the upgrade, you may have to look for a seller on eBay.

Hi mhynek,

I just want to know the upgrade will support bluetooth?
Because one friend told me that it will not support the bluetooth radio.

So make sure it supports bluetooth.

Thanks You.

I think the bluetooth issue is solved with a softpaq (SP28789) update after upgrading to wm2k3? If I am incorrect, please let me know. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

i used a ROM dump on the ole 3970 I used to have. Man, 2003 is the best thing to ever happen to that device.
