On my third day using Treo 700w under Verizon Wireless here in NYC.
I use the following site to test the broadband speed of the 700w with Verizon Wireless. Bear in mind that Verizon claims a 400 to 700 kbs average speed.

On Saturday, 1/21/06 at Peter Lugers Restaurant in Long Island on Northern Blvd, I ran a few test and got:
Low of 136kbs
High of 198kbs
On Sunday, 1/22/06 in Flushing, Queens near the Home Depot next to Shea, I first upgrade the 700w using the *228 and ran both #2 and #1 options. Then I ran the above link and got:
Low of 384kbs
High of 453kbs
Today's figures were acceptable.
In real use, ESPN, Yahoo, and Google worked well, although never as snappy as my office road runner, which ran:
Low of 1600kbs
High of 2236kbs
Paul
BTW, any of you figure a way to program the side buttons to switch to speakerphone? Also, are your audio with speakersphone free of distortion?
