Hi,
I'm trying to get this iPAQ which is running windows pocket pc 2003, and has windows media player 9 on it to play video files other than the few movie trailers on the microsoft website.

It won't play a regular mpeg, I can't upgrade to wmp10, and I can't install pockettv on it!!

What are my options for viewing video files on this iPAQ?? Am I limited to the stuff on the microsoft website?

I would like to be able to convert all sorts of videos to a smaller format and then play them on this thing, is this possible? Even quicktime stuff I think can be converted with the correct program, no?

Thanx

Hey Tei,

I have a 4350, definitely one of the best. Google a program called The Core Pocket Media Player, or TCPMP. You may have to download a couple of codecs at the site to get what you want to play, but it is the best media player. Usually plays what others won't. I also use Pocket Divx Encoder to make small sized movies. Both of these are free, despite the fact that they are among the best software for the ppc. Good luck.

Odd. PocketTV should not give you any problems while installing or using. Its a fine application

For viewing videos using WMP on your PPC, you can use any converting application on your PC to convert them to wmp playable format. DVD to pocket pc (http://www.makayama.com/dvdtopocketpc.html) is an example.

If you want to live free, there's an application called PocketDivxEncoder (http://divx.ppccool.com) which will convert your video files to .avi format(with divx or xvid video stream).
Files made by it are not playable by WMP on your PPC. You will have to download an application called TCPMP (http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/download) to play them on your PPC

Enjoy !! :D

OK, I must be an idiot. I can't get this stuff to work!! I've got both TCPMP and the pocket divx encoder downloaded onto the pc. ran them both and are installed on the pc. I'm assuming that I need to install the TCPMP onto the PPC but when I dump it onto the memory and try to install, it says that it's not a valid application. I encoded a video on my pc with the divx encoder, and then dumped it onto the ppc, but it does not recognize it.

Where am I going wrong?

*For the TCPMP do I need to download and install all of those other files aswell as the .exe file, or am I all set with just the .exe file? Is this the problem?

Disregard my previous post. I was being an idiot. I did it correctly, just had to open the program, then open the videos!! Doh. Thanx again for the tip.
