I've looked at the company that my insurance company uses to replace them and they stock these models. Which should I choose IF they ask?

I'm depressed, all my personal data was on it and not password protected.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. :(

I assume your replacement model won't cost you a cent? If so, go for the hx2790. It's easily the better of the three.

If I were you, I would go in for hx2790(similar to hx2750 but comes with windows mobile 5)

I've got a £100 excess and my premiums will cost me an extra £50 for the next year but as I had a 2Gb SD Card in my iPaq It still makes better financial sense to claim.

I would rather not have lost it. I don't know if the software that I have bought is tied to my missing pocket PC.

To be honest I'm not sure how I lost it. Last I saw it I had it in the office next time I'm looking for it I'm at home can't find it. Remember I had it in the office decide it must be in my desk drawer but it's not. It's not in my car either. Looked everywhere just plain lost!

I've read a lot of posts saying WM5 sucks. Is that true? Is it a step back.

I don't think you'll have a choice - I don't think you can get an hx2xxx iPaq new without WM5.

I think the benefits far outweigh the costs. Of course, everyone has their own perception.

If they're paying for it, get the 2790 - just make sure all of your software's updated for WM5, and be careful what you run in the Today screen. Also, be warned that RAM is RAM, and it's not used for file storage anymore, which will affect how some programs run.. and thus cause issues like the Battery Drain of Doom, or the Non-Functioning Power Button of Despair.

There are fixes for these issues all over the board, but I'd suggest keeping the number of Today panel items low, and to disable the wireless when you turn the system off, and to ensure that ActiveSync is not set up to automatically start. Beyond that, watch the installed programs - some of them have caused WM5 issues in the past (Battery Pack Pro comes to mind for me), which is why WM5 has the relatively poor reputation it does, on top of it running programs from ROM instead of RAM (which means it's a tad slower than WM2003SE was at loading apps), and the Error Reporting which has caused issues for various people.

Well good new/bad news time!

Bad News: no new Pocket PC
Good News: I've found my old one! It had missed it when I searched my car before but it was tucked under a seat

On balance it's better to know that my personal data isn't in the hands of some fiend! Moreover the iPaq 4155 is one of the greatest Pocket PCs ever made (in my opinion). If you like compact and versatile this baby has it all. So I'll miss the opportunity to play with all the latest Windows Mobile goodies but all is for the best.

Thank you all for your advice and support!

Are you sure you're not a fiend? :)

(j/k, I don't even know you.)
