I thought some of you would be interested to check out the "command center" I have set up in my office. I think it's all the more impressive given that I am not in the IT department but rather a mere enthusiast.
From left to right, we have a phone, XM satellite radio (and remote in front of the phone), Dell Axim X51v, HP iPAQ 5455, SanDisk 8-in-one card reader, and PC with two sets of speakers. I think I could run the world right from my desk!

You need a flat panel display to free up some room on your desk. Otherwise, nice setup.

Good idea but unfortunately, only the IT folks get them at the present time. I work for a non-profit and we're not always on the cutting edge of technology. :(

Hey screen should be in front of you(its on the right). As said above LCDs are pretty cheap these days. So you may find a nice bargain

**off-topic:your ipaq still looks very nice and classy

Sunny :)

Where's the smartphone? :confused totally:

Just kidding, is a nice setup. The monitor has me a bit concerned from an ergonomic stand point. Of course I don't know your workflow.

Looks good! My desk pales in comparison, although I'm thinking of a snazzy dock for my k-jam to help 'geeken' it up. And I haven't yet installed my Homestar Runner figurines yet...

While I have the small gadgets, you brought out the big guns with two computers!

Well, it's really one computer with an external monitor hooked up. Although in my home office, my one keyboard & monitor is hooked into an 8 port KVM... with up to 6 computers hooked in at any given time.

Don't the IT guys in your office understand their job?

Aren't they supposed to make sure that you, and the other staff, have what you need to make your job easier/more productive/more comfortable?

I handle the IT tasks for my office (of about 40 people) and I am always the last to get a new computer or monitor. In fact, I mostly just get the pick of the left overs after the upgrade.

I think the opposite is true here. They (IT) get all the good stuff. My office PC is a little nicer than my colleagues'--in exchange for helping out some of the more computer illiterate people in my division, I got a hand-me-down Dell from IT, but it's ten times better than what everybody else has.
