http://msnbc.msn.com/id/10824055/

For several months Google has offered a personal home page from which to begin your searches. You can add things like local weather, stock quotes, the latest news articles from dozens of resources, etc. Now, they have formatted it so that when your PDA accesses the site, it fits.

Just go to Google's home page and tap the "Sign In" link to either access or create your account. It is probably easier to configure it on the PC then sign in on the Pocket PC.

I'd like to also add that this fits well on the Smartphone as well. A cool thing about this is that not only could you have weather, gmail, and other gizmos on the page, but you can also use it to show RSS headlines to your favorite sites. So I use it as my all in one news aggregator. (sp?)

The MSNBC article makes an indirect hint at the fact that this only works on the US version of Google: www.google.com/pda

If you're using a localised version of Google (e.g. www.google.ca/pda or www.google.com.au/pda), the "Personalized Home" link won't appear. Just something to keep in mind. :)

Nice to know, but I can't part with PocketPCThoughts as my home page. BTW how would I have known about Google for PPC?

What do you mean? Are you asking how you would known the address for the Pocket PC version of Google?

If so, there's nothing special to it. By typing www.google.com in PIE, it should automatically redirect you to the mobile portal, www.google.com/pda

No. that was not what I meant. I meant how would I have learned about this without hearing about it at PocketPCThoughts.

I took the long road. I saw it on my Google page in my RSS feed from PocketPCThoughts and then came here to read about it. :) So tonight when I get home I can try it out. The wireless is secured here at work...

This is great by the way. It was cumbersome to browse myGoogle before. Now if they can just tweak Gmail a bit more so it acts like it does on PC's but formatted for PDA's.

The .co.uk version works just fine for me.

Kind of useless for me after wasting all the time to set it up, PIE can't seem to remember my login/password for that site (or most others for that matter).

I've tried and tried again, but I can't bring up the personalized home page on my PPC (6315, WM2003, using GPRS in New York). I keep getting a "page not found" dialog box. The normal Google search works just fine. Google Help advised me to clear cache and cookies, which I did, to no avail.

I'm a Canadian resident and I managed to get the Personalized Home link to come up on www.google.ca/pda and I viewed it very well on my Dell Axim X50v just now.

I can access www.google.ca/pda just fine, but it doesn't have the Gmail and Personalized Home links that www.google.com/pda has.

Yeah, I'm still not seeing it anywhere other than www.google.com/pda

Maybe ctmagnus and I are just stuck in a time capsule.

That page has a fixed layout, you can add contents already approved and other "predefined" content. MyOnlineCenter.com lets you create your own page with whatever you want (using HTML in some cases...). bye
