http://www.pocketinformant.com/flexwallet

The first FlexWallet 2006 revision under the WebIS name has just been released. The main changes include implementation of a WebIS registration system, a shift to new build numbers, grouping of the Pocket PC and Smartphone versions under a single license, the addition of a password generator (for the Pocket PC build), and a fix for the keypad bug (again, for the Pocket PC build).

If you're an existing FlexWallet 2006 customer, you should have already received a new serial number via email. If not, you can request it, here. A FlexWallet 2006 upgrade offer is available for customers using FlexWallet 1.x or 2005. Simply enter your email address, here, and you'll be able to upgrade to the new version for $7.95 USD (a time-limited offer).

It's worth noting that the overall pricing structure of FlexWallet has changed. As stated earlier, the Pocket PC and Smartphone versions now come under a single license and that can be had for $19.95 USD. The desktop version is now available separately for $14.95 USD. Alternatively, you can purchase the desktop and mobile bundle for $29.95 USD.

I'm still running an original version of Flexwallet (1.7). What are the real advantages of upgrading? Thanks!

I'm still running an original version of Flexwallet (1.7). What are the real advantages of upgrading? Thanks!

Most of the changes are centred on the desktop version - e.g. a Favourites view, a Recent view, a one-click copy function. But there are also many under-the-hood changes on the mobile version, including but not limited to, performance enhancements, and now, a password generator.

There is a free trial version available, so feel free to download it and try it out for yourself.

Thanks. I'm doing that now.

They're now charging for the desktop version? That's terrible! I am so disappointed in WebIS - one of the main reasons I keep up with FlexWallet is the free desktop client. I may have to look at FlexWallet's competitors now... Grr... :(

Oh, I see. The net effect is a price decrease if you don't want the desktop version. That's good, I guess... Just a bit worrisome in that I wouldn't want the overall price of both packages to go up, but WebIS' recent permanent price-drop on all products at least goes some way to reassuring me that they are committed to keeping their Pocket PC products at a reasonable price-point.

Darius,

NM...I noticed FW2006 no longer supports PPC 2002. :( While I hope to upgrade at some point, I'm still using my Jornada 568.

So any advantages over eWallet?
